How to be a Good Christian
This morning’s sermon talked about it being impossible to live under the law given to Moses because by the law we are condemned already.
That’s why Jesus came to get us out from under the law. Jesus gave us faith so that whosoever believes in Him is no longer living under the law. Faith in Jesus who bore our sin and died on the cross gave us THE way to the Father. Jesus said HE IS THE WAY and there is no other way to be saved.
So having accepted Jesus and asked for forgiveness then makes us worthy to come to the Father in the name of Jesus, whereby we are cleansed as if we had never sinned. Cool.
Romans 8:8 – There is no therefore no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
So how do we become Good Christians?
We can’t work our way unto salvation, it is a gift from God lest any man should boast.
We should do what is right in God’s eyes – love Him with all our heart, mind, soul and strength and love our neighbor as we love ourselves. It’s easier said than done – believe me.
Mark 12:29 – 31
29 “The most important one,” answered Jesus, “is this: ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.[e] 30 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’[f] 31 The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’[g] There is no commandment greater than these.”
Maybe, just maybe we should just tell others that God loves them, that Jesus is the way and live by example. Like what the pastor said this morning – spend time on our knees in prayer, dig into the Word and surround ourselves with Godly men and women who simply love God – and talk JESUS!
Does God love me more than you or you more than me? No – the Bible tells us that God created everyone equal in His eyes. There is no slave or free, nor Gentile nor Jew, no male or female – all are equal in the sight of God.
In God’s eyes the person with the Holy Spirit wins, toys don’t matter.
Salvation is the name of the game and the loser simply “craps out” – loses it all, eternity without the Creator God – by personal choice (the right to choose).
John 3:16 – For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
The winner resides with the Father for eternity.
Today is the day of salvation, we are not promised another breath, heartbeat or tomorrow. – RTM
