Does America Have a Soul?

It’s been said by politicians and patriots alike that we’re in a battle for the soul of America. I’ve even said it in my writings, but is it true? Does America have a corporate soul? Many believe that life is great, everything is rosy and if we just wait it out life will become greater than ever before.

Religious people turn to their gods (and they are many) to burn incense, pray ritualistic prayers, and in some societies conduct human or other sacrifices to insure “good luck” comes their way. I’ve witnessed entire cultures that believe having a gold chain with a medallion of their god will prevent them from harm. In that same culture people are robbed and often killed because someone else wants that gold chain.

God created the United States of America as a melting pot where people of any nation, creed or culture could freely come to worship HIM without government interference. In the 248 years since there are a great many differing religious groups who freely practice their traditional doctrine in peace.

In recent years it has become increasingly hard to maintain the freedom to worship God as societal changes have relegated God to the sidelines in nearly every venue of public and private live. We are told God is not allowed in schools, universities, businesses, court rooms and in some cases EVEN IN CHURCHES! Oh you can talk about virtually anything except telling people about the fire and brimstone of HELL or mentioning the name of JESUS who is the Christ.

Churches of America are gravitating toward being entertainment centers mimicking the bars and nightclubs openly operating everywhere. The flashing lights, smoke pots and loud rhythmic music draws people like flies to honey and with a diluted on non-existent message of man’s sinful nature or God’s forgiveness the end will not result in eternal bliss.

I like the way pastor David Jerimiah said about “world leaders, kings and presidents acting like ants on a log heading downstream, they each think they are controlling the log, when in fact they may have power for a time or season, but they are simply going with the flow.” Christians know that God is the only one in control. It is God who created everything and everyone and nothing ever takes him by surprise.

Do I think America has a soul – NO; but America has a national consciousness that GOD IS. Whether you call him God, Father, or LORD it is by HIS will that we exist. It is by OUR will that we choose to worship HIM.

Jesus tells us who are meek and lowly to come to him and he will give us rest.

When traversing the storms of life it is better to be prepared than to be caught off guard, unprepared and lost……RTM
