In the Face of the Enemy

The Oath of Enlistment (for enlisted):

“I, _____, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God.”

The Oath of Office (for officers):

“I, _____ (SSAN), having been appointed an officer in the _____ (Military Branch) of the United States, as indicated above in the grade of _____ do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign or domestic, that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office upon which I am about to enter; So help me God.”

As a new military member of the United States I too was charged with the solemn duty to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic and to bear true faith and allegiance to the same. I took that oath freely each time I extended/reenlisted my service obligation. At no time did I see or was told there was an “end date” whereby that oath would have an expiration date or cease to exist.

I pity any fellow service member who takes a stance or arms against the Constitution for the sake of Democracy or for any other name or reason.

Look around and there are forces seen and unseen all around us threatening to render the Constitution useless whether by ignorance or the power of the pen.

After 9/11/2001 when President George W. Bush declared “The War on Terrorism” had begun, he also said to the nations of the world, “If you are not for us, you are against us!” (paraphrased)

After the twin towers fell and the dust had settled there was resolve across our nation to get involved so that this tragedy would never happen again.

But it did happen again on 9/11/2012 the US Embassy (annex) in Libya was attacked and overrun, America’s military first responders were hindered and delayed as Ambassador Stevens and three other US Citizens were killed.

Neither President Barack Obama’s executive branch, nor Secretary of State Hillary Clinton or the administration took responsibility for their non-action that took American lives needlessly. They blamed it on a book.

On 8-14-2021 President Joe Biden ordered the surrender/withdrawal of US forces from Afghanistan leaving Americans and allies of the United States behind to be dealt with at the hands of the Taliban who had been given the “keys to the kingdom” literally and figuratively at Bahram Air Base. Nobody in the administration took responsible for that fiasco either.

Making matters worse President Joe Biden acted in concert with world leaders, financial backers and United States government agencies to open the US Southern border with Mexico and flood the United States with more than 20M unvetted illegal migrants in the worst invasion in our nation’s history. It is still happening.

Still worse yet are the promises of Vice President Kamala Harris to correct the actions of her current boss and fix the border issue if elected. Why she hasn’t done anything about it in the more than 3 ½ years she has been in office?

It would appear that the intended outcome for this migrant invasion is to destabilize the economy of the United States by saddling American taxpayers with a tremendous amount of wasted resources and finances and unnecessary federal regulations that will force our government to ultimately collapse.

The ONLY hope is our trust in God as demonstrated by individual and corporate prayer for our nation.

It is time for our nation’s veterans and military members to take a fresh look at the “Oath” and determine in their hearts whether this nation is still worth fighting for? It’s not about DEI, or political party agendas, it is about FREEDOM. Not freedom to do what you want, but FREEDOM to do what is honorable and right in the sight of Almighty God from sea to shining sea. – RTM
