Sifting the Wheat

On the farm or ranch there comes a time of harvesting the crops in the field. When the crop is wheat it must be cut down before being separated the seeds from the stalks and then removing the chaff. What used to be done by hand is now done using machinery making it more efficient and economical.

Combines can cut acres and acres land grown wheat, separating the chaff and storing the grain in the combine’s bin, ready to be transferred to waiting trucks and trailers and taken to grain silos to be weighed and stored until ready to be processed. What happens to the rubble in the fields? Is it left to rot on the ground or gathered into rows to be bailed, stacked and fed to cows, horses and the like?

In this sense big government is like those acres of land. Every department or agency is created with a purpose in mind, but over time becomes bloated with government regulations, rules and workers. It is common knowledge that securing a government job is the ultimate job security. The pay and benefits are hard to match on the outside and the unions insure that termination is extremely difficult. Government contracting is a very lucrative way of getting on the payroll. The unchecked quest for money results in higher taxes in order to finance the wants and desires of each agency.

We’ve all heard the stories of the $700 hammer, the bridge to nowhere, and pork barrel pet projects of various members of congress. We’ve been told that the federal government prints money (U.S. Currency) and that there is gold stored at the Fort Knox depository backing it all up. But in light of today’s massive $T deficit is there really?

After WWII several presidents have recognized and identified inefficient and wasteful government spending by congress, yet until recently what we have not heard was how much money was being earmarked to these special projects.

I fully support President Trump’s efforts to put into place a methodology to shrink government and curb fraudulent or wasteful spending beginning with the special taskforce (D.O.G.E.) working within the Office of Budget and Management (OBM) and in conjunction with congressional DOGE sub-committees to implement an intensive financial and manpower audits that identify remedies making government more efficient. A predictable and yet unforeseen result was the outbursts from those in government who may have been on the receiving end of behind-the-scenes kickback schemes costing taxpayers $T.

The government workforce wide buyout offer taken by thousands of employees going for the money was like spreading honey on the ground and watching the flies come out of the woodwork. Unforeseen were good employees who were lost in the shakeup causing a massive rethinking of how things are done within government.

In fact Trumps use of tariffs as both a carrot and a stick have caused the entire planet to stop and take notice (friend and foe alike). No longer is the United States the world’s A.T.M. for defense and disasters, although we are there to do our part when needed. America must get our house in order before going out and dictating the same to other nations. – RTM
