Governmental Incompetence
“If the government was run by the same standards as corporations it would go financially bankrupt and out of business, the CEO would be in jail and there would be nothing for anybody” – (paraphrased) Elon Musk.
Why would Elon make such a statement?
After Elon was appointed head of a special taskforce called Department of Government Efficiency under the Office of Budget and Management and in conjunction with the House DOGE subcommittee, his team got to work beginning with the USAID and sparks began to fly. Initially they were denied access until upper management were terminated and walked out of the building. The agency became slated for closure, the name removed from the headquarters building and functions assumed by other agencies.
As the DOGE team began assessing the operation and software used to operate USAID and doll out government grants it became apparent there were none of the financial checks and balances on how funds were earmarked, spent or tracked. It also became apparent that fraud was out of control and had been for a very long time.
As this financial audit progressed to every government agency the results were the same. In fact there were many unverified payments being made to government workers who didn’t exist or were no longer employed. Grant payments were issued without checking to see if the cause was justified or by verifiable results. Many grants payments went to America’s enemies like the Taliban.
As fraudulent payments totaled into the $B instead of being grateful these payments were uncovered congressional democrats revolted. They falsely accused President Trump and DOGE of stealing monies for personal use. Such a defamation of character for neither President Trump or any of the DOGE volunteers receive any financial reimbursement for the work ferreting out fraud for which they have committed to do.
Another problem area DOGE uncovered was the manner in which government employee records are being processed in “the Cave” with antiquated computer software and actual paper being packed by hand into an underground fortress, very outdated and inefficient as well as time consuming (wasteful manhours and personnel) that could and is being updated with modern technology.
It seems that DOGE discovered that among the more than 400 government agencies in existence there is only one checking account for payments going out, yet no financial safeguards.
As DOGE teams and processes are brought online throughout government many other issues are being uncovered as steps to modernize and shrink the government workforce is underway to reduce duplication of processes, methods and personnel I wonder how did we get to this point of inefficiency?
Other presidential administrations have long identified some of these shortfalls, but did not have the knowhow or expertise to make significant changes to make our government efficient.
Like a train moving forward with no reverse the only path is to create more agencies, hire more workers and make our government larger, more bloated and vastly inefficient.
The very same is true with Congress. Politicians need to pull their collective heads out of their collective rectums and return to working FOR THE PEOPLE whom they represent. – RTM
