Soaring Above the Storms of Life
Cleanup completed. Food put away. My favorite part of these shindigs has been passed down to family and by now many have gone home myself included) after a huge Thanksgiving Dinner with family and friends. It’s time to settle down, relax and recompose.
My thoughts are on part of an interview I saw recently where Dr. David Jeremiah was asked how he does it, staying above the fray of the world around us. His answer was simple, “God has called HIS believers to be salt and light in a darkened world”. In particular Dr. Jeremiah said he was called to preach the “good news” of Jesus Christ’s saving grace so that everyone (the bible says ‘Whosoever’) is able to join God the Father “YHWH” in heaven when they leave this world behind.
We can see that the world is going to hell in a hand basket and fighting tooth and nail in order to get inside that hand basket. In the bible we are cautioned not to worry about tomorrow, because tomorrow has enough to worry about itself. So while it’s easy to get entangled in the “unfairness” and political strife of the everyday world around us, it’s important to keep the main thing, the main thing. That main thing is JESUS!
John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
Now I don’t know about you but I believe that to be true and have staked my eternal soul, my life now and forever on the fact that God has forgiven my sins and when this life is over, it’s not really over but continues on throughout eternity and my destination is secure – heaven will be my home.
So this Thanksgiving Day I have decided to focus my writings on the eternal and let the temporal take care of itself, I will be writing on the word of God, which is life instead of the turmoil making today’s headlines.
In John 14:6, Jesus declares, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me”.
So do you know the way? I surely do……– RTM
