A Divided House
Do you know that division divides family members, communities, cities, states and nations?
Why is that you might ask?
Division is disunity of focus and purpose to the point that right becomes wrong and everybody wants to right a perceived wrong, right?
According to this 2-2-2026 Harry Kramer article: The US Immigration Crisis, “In 1858, in what became known as his “House Divided” speech when he accepted his nomination for the U.S. Senate, Abraham Lincoln said, “A house divided against itself cannot stand.” Kramer’s focus on the very divisive US Immigration crisis is to seek a balanced approach to find common ground.
There are several bible verses where Jesus spoke about this very subject and it was from this text that Abraham Lincoln quoted:
Matthew 12:25 (NKJV) – “But Jesus knew their thoughts, and said to them: ‘Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and every city or house divided against itself will not stand.”
To be clear, people are not illegal. We are all created in the image of God. Nobody is better or worse than anyone else. We all have been created with our own free will to choose between right and wrong.
When we choose wrong, there are consequences. Crossing a border and entering a country illegally is wrong. There are no “mulligans” or “do overs”, until now under the Trump administration, unlawful migrants can opt to self-deport, receive assistance funds and a free ticket home with the option to apply to return legally to the US in the future.
Whether from the left or the right immigration remains a hot button issue in America. As someone who has had to navigate the quite lengthy immigration process in order to position a family member for citizenship, there are obviously changes needed and Congress is the body to make those changes.
In the meantime Congress should work together ALL HANDS ON DECK to conduct a comprehensive reform of current US Immigration Laws, where inefficiencies, gaps and goofs are found.
The internet and social media is not the place for the court of public opinion.
Elected members of Congress and other elected officials should exercise their right to remain silent instead of openly and publicly voicing their often distorted opinions about perceived government wrongdoings where they should be earnestly working to correct them.
Americans expect and deserve a safe place to live, work and raise their families and worship God – The American Dream!
Visitors and guests alike should come to our country and behave as if it were their own. Obey the law, treat everyone with respect and go home telling everyone about the wonderful time they had.
To openly show distain, distrust and to despise the city, state, nation or our elected officials is totally un-American and un-Patriotic. Try that in any other nation and the consequences can be severe. – RTM
