When You Have Done All To Stand

What we know, four days ago George Floyd died while in the custody of Minneapolis police officer Dereck Chauvin. A video released to the media was broadcast worldwide. People were immediately outraged at the sight of a black man on the ground in handcuffs as police officer Derek Chauvin kneeled over him with his knee directly over George Floyd’s neck. For all appearances it was a clear case of a black man murdered by an abusive police officer. Mr. Floyd could be heard saying “I can’t breathe!” yet officer Chauvin did not move. Mr. Floyd died on the scene.

Officer Chauvin was known to have had a number of complaints against him from his 19 years on the job without ever being prosecuted. He has been fired from his job. He was charged with 3rd degree manslaughter and other charges and is pending prosecution. In this case the prosecutor says based on the evidence there are no grounds for a criminal prosecution of officer Chauvin.

George Floyd was known as a gentle giant having moved from Houston, Texas to Minneapolis to help the people of Minnesota. He is known for his ministerial work in the Houston area. He was a family man. The medical examiner conducted an autopsy on Mr. Floyd and found no evidence of strangulation or asphyxiation, but rather concluded that he died of a heart condition mixed with intoxicants.

Now that is what I’ve gathered and we still don’t know is what started this incident.

I came across the following George Floyd arrest MPD Press Release

MINNEAPOLIS — (Scroll Down For Video) — The FBI will investigate the fatal arrest of a man that occurred in South Minneapolis Monday night.

In a press release, cops described the fatal encounter as a ‘medical incident.’

On Monday evening, shortly after 8:00 pm, officers from the Minneapolis Police Department responded to the 3700 block of Chicago Avenue South on a report of a forgery in progress.

Officers were advised that the suspect was sitting on top of a blue car and appeared to be under the influence.

Two officers arrived and located the suspect, a male believed to be in his 40s, in his car. He was ordered to step from his car. After he got out, he physically resisted officers. Officers were able to get the suspect into handcuffs and noted he appeared to be suffering medical distress. Officers called for an ambulance. He was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center by ambulance where he died a short time later.

At no time were weapons of any type used by anyone involved in this incident.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension has been called in to investigate this incident at the request of the Minneapolis Police Department.

No officers were injured in the incident.

Body worn cameras were on and activated during this incident.

Although there is picture of a handcuffed George Floyd walking with officers, there is yet to be released body camera video showing what happened throughout the arrest. I must warn you that the video is hard to watch and clearly shows the officers lack of concern for the apprehended suspect’s safety or affected with bystanders pleading for over 7 minutes for the officer to get off his neck.

Disturbing video posted online shows the unidentified officer kneeling on the man’s neck for at least seven minutes — he later died.

In the meantime there were organized protests against police brutality in Minneapolis by many who rushed to judgement without any of the evidence that I’ve mentioned, except the leaked video.

We have been told George Floyd was an innocent man.

We have been told Derek Chauvin was a bad cop.

Clearly everything is not what it appears to be and an outside investigation is warranted.

Based on that assumption there have been demonstrations, protests and rioting across the nation resulting in loss of lives, destruction of private and public property with massive lootings and burning of business and government establishments. The Minnesota National Guard has been activated to work alongside state police and local law enforcement to restore order.

There have been many non-residents coming into Minneapolis by vehicles and aircraft to actively participate in the lawlessness. They claim to protest police brutality and stand up for the memory of George Floyd, but they’re lying. Minneapolis is not the only area either, in city after city across the nation and even an assault on the White House in Washington, DC yesterday bringing more condemnation and disgrace to those involved.

We’ve seen this “protesting” before by paid “actors” from Black Lives Matters and Antifa agitators from outside the protest area inciting the rioting and encouraging the looting. They are doing the very thing George Floyd was against.

As I said earlier we do not have the whole story. We don’t know what happened or what caused George Floyd’s death. This was a massive rush to judgement by informed mobs of people who acted without hope. There will be investigations into the events surrounding the incident and into each act of violence done in various communities as the lives and livelihood of a great many have been affected.

What is obvious is the lack of local and national politicians condemning the violence. Many have offered words without meaning or substance that do not call for personal responsibility. Even the governor of Minnesota was reportedly handing out COVID facemasks to rioters and protesters while begging them to stop. At one point after a declaration of an 8pm curfew was ignored by the rioters, police and National Guard simply retreated out of the area and out of sight as if they had never even been there.

The 1st Amendment does not give permission for rioting, looting or violence. They are not considered free speech when people are injured or killed and property destroyed or stolen by looters. There was a time when looters were shot on sight. Armed Minneapolitans were seen standing side by side protecting business and homes from the lawlessness. I did not see or hear of any of their weapons being discharged, as was heard elsewhere during the rioting which has lasted more than 3 days thus far.

Where is the leadership? Equally important who are the entities behind the lawlessness we are seeing on news broadcasts across the nation? How do spontaneous protestors simply show up? Where did they come from? What is their mode of travel? Where do they stay? How do they sustain themselves? And how do they know where to go in a strange city?

The lack of outrage by politicians is deafening. When President Trump condemned the violence on Twitter his words were censured and labeled as glorifying violence and that has not been corrected.

Congressional Democrats were quick to lay blame on President Trump, yet did not condemn the violence.

A speech by presidential-candidate Joe Biden was a lot of nothing in as many words yet did not condemn the violence.

The letter from Barack Obama did not condemn the violence, only blamed society.

The bible tells us in Ephesians to bring up our children in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.

Ephesians 6

1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.

2 “Honor your father and mother” (which is the first commandment with a promise),

3 “that it may go well with you and that you may have a long life on the earth.”

4 Fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath; instead, bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.

5 Slaves, obey your earthly masters with respect and fear and sincerity of heart, just as you would show to Christ.

6 And do this not only to please them while they are watching, but as servants of Christ, doing the will of God from your heart.

7 Serve with good will, as to the Lord and not to men,

8 because you know that the Lord will reward each one for whatever good he does, whether he is slave or free.

9 And masters, do the same for your slaves. Give up your use of threats, because you know that He who is both their Master and yours is in heaven, and there is no favoritism with Him.

10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power.

11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can make your stand against the devil’s schemes.

12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this world’s darkness, and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

13 Therefore take up the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you will be able to stand your ground, and having done everything, to stand.

14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness arrayed,

15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness of the gospel of peace.

16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.

17 And take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

18 Pray in the Spirit at all times, with every kind of prayer and petition. To this end, stay alert with all perseverance in your prayers for all the saints.
