A Discussion of Sexual Misconduct Among Members of Congress

It’s a proven fact that allegations of sexual misconduct are a surefire way to terminate the path forward for accused members of congress. With former D (CA) Eric Swalwell “unraveling” by five allegations of sexual misconduct that not only torpedoed his aim for the California governor’s office, but drove him out of his 13 year run in the US House of Representatives.

Are there lessons to be learned here? Surely what is reported to have been an open secret throughout congress tells us more about the “powers that be” than the disgraced former congressman.

How did this happen?

How long have others known?

Why was nothing done about it?

When questioned, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) claimed no knowledge of Stalwell’s misconduct. I find that hard to believe because she also claimed no knowledge of then President Joe Biden’s mental cognitive decline, but was the one to pull the rug out from under his re-election campaign, while he was the sitting president.

I have no proof, but strongly suspect she was instrumental in the downfall of Swalwell too. (Nothing gets past Nancy unnoticed).

There have been other members of congress Tony Gonzales (R-TX) and others who have succumbed to sexual improprieties while in office and each one simply vanish after leaving office.

And then there is the alleged “democrat sexual payment ledger” (book) chronicling names, dates and settlement payments. Who maintains that book and stores it (securely)?

What other secrets are lurking in the halls of congress?

Democrats aren’t the only ones engaged in allegations of sexual misconduct either. There have been and are today republican congressmen facing the same fate.

Why has it been tolerated? Why is it still being tolerated?

Absolute power corrupts absolutely, right?

How can an accused member of congress simply “retire” from congress? Is not public service a chosen endeavor to give back to the American people? Elected officials are elected by the people and should after doing their “duty” in good faith and honor, return to the people from whence they came.

On the other hand, sexual allegations are just that until they are tried and proven in a court of law. Sexual predators (those who go after vulnerable “marks”) must be held to a higher standard BECAUSE they used their elected office to perpetuate their crimes. – RTM
