Don’t Let The Battle Get Inside You
The past few weeks I’ve witnessed God speaking to and through fellow Christians and the message is basically the same – Wait upon the Lord and wait in his strength not our own. That’s really hard for me because I often feel that the outcome depends upon my understanding and my action.
I learned an object lesson many years ago that neither God nor the devil can enter your life without your invitation. Often it’s a subtle invitation by embracing something we think will be fun like a song, movie or sitting down with someone we just met or a new friend. Inviting them into your life leaves you open for all kind of things. So when you hear that knocking on your hearts door just be aware of who you opening the door to.
One of my all-time favorites is sung by PETRA. It’s called “The Battle Belongs to the Lord” and I first heard it back in 1990.
The Battle Belongs to the Lord – Petra
Words and music by Jamie Owens-Collins
In heavenly armour we’ll enter the land
The battle belongs to the Lord
No weapon that’s fashioned against us shall stand
The battle belongs to the Lord
We sing glory and honor
Power and strength to the Lord
(repeat)
The power of darkness comes in like a flood
The battle belongs to the Lord
He’s raised up a standard, the power of His blood
The battle belongs to the Lord
When your enemy presses in hard do not fear
The battle belongs to the Lord
Take courage my friend, your redemption is near
The battle belongs to the Lord
It has a very powerful message to the body of Christ that is in sync with Exodus 15:3 “The LORD [is] a man of war: the LORD [is] his name.
Recently as I was scrolling through Facebook I stopped when I read:
“We do not wait for The Lord, we wait in The Lord. When we say we wait for The Lord it implies He is not with us and yet His word has promised us that He will never leave us nor forsake us. So we wait in The Lord. Just like we don’t fight for victory, we fight from victory. We look at it the way we say it. So let’s say it right!!!” – David Hayner 12/29/20 (Pastor New Life Church of God in Herkimer, New York).
God wants our undivided attention in the year 2021:
“God asked me this question. Do you know why it’s so hard for most Christians to wait for me? Because most are so use to living and making everyday decisions on their own without asking me, much less waiting for my answer. Ask God, include God, and wait on God about every aspect of your life. Ask, Seek, Knock, and Wait in God for God’s answer.” – David Hayner 1/1/21
I’ve been meditating on these messages as well as bible passages and this morning when I read this from a friend:
“This is what happened to me as I sat down to read and pray this morning. The first part is a simple prayer I prayed and then what I heard in my spirit. I am going to put it out just as it came to me. I hope it blesses you.
Lord Jesus I need you so much right now. My heart is full of noise and anxiety right now.
“Son, don’t let the battle get into you. I am with you. Be strong and of good courage. Nothing that is going on in your life and in the world changes who I am and who I am in you.
While I was on the earth I never let the battle get into Me. The enemy tried hard to get Me to panic and to take matters into My own hands. So I understand how you are feeling right now.
There is more to Me than you realize. I maintained My relationship with My Father so that I could accomplish His will. All the things that you read about in Scripture that speak of how I spent time in prayer and how I said I only say and do what I see and hear the Father saying and doing kept the battle out of Me. It kept Me focused and full of joy because I knew the Father’s perfect will would be accomplished through My submission to Him.
You are no different. The same peace, power and purpose I had, you also have. Just abide in Me. I am doing things that if they were told to you, you would not believe. They would seem so grand so amazing and beyond your wildest imaginations. I have a plan and my plans always come to pass. Be strong and of good courage.”” – John T. Worm, Colorado Springs
With all the fluff going on around us it’s easy to get caught up in it and miss what God wants to US to do and we forget that we are not dealing with flesh and blood.
Ephesians 6:12 “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high [places].”
Our nation has become so wrapped up in self and selfish desires enough so that we make our selfish demands to the God who created us and say he is wrong.
Romans 9:20 “Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus?”
By no means do I have the answers in life, but I know who does.
The year 2021 is a year of focusing outside ourselves. Quit looking and saying I or Me, when you pray ask God how I can help others so that they might see God, not me.
Those several years ago I heard a song by Bob Bennet “Carpenter God Bad” and I urge you to listen. The words ought to make you reflect deep within your soul.
CARPENTER GONE BAD?
Bob Bennett
There’s a man down in the street
Says he’s the Messiah
Telling people he is the Chosen One
Says that He is in the Father
And the Father’s in the Son
Empty nets made full of fish
And blind eyes that see
Didn’t he used to work with wood in Galilee?
Now he’s in the synagogue
Telling people they are wrong
To live as whitewashed tombs
Full of dead men’s bones
Some say he is the Son of God
Others laugh and call him mad
Well do you think he’s who they say he is
Or just a carpenter gone bad?
People talking about him wherever I go
They say he teaches with authority
Is there something I don’t know?
The say it is his fervent prayer
That we stay in the Father’s care
And believe that he is the Word made man
Some say he is the Son of God
Others laugh and call him mad
Well do you think he’s who he says he is
Or just a carpenter gone bad?
I’m not some super religious freak or a self-righteous “look at me” kind of guy. I’m simply someone who knows the master. I ask for his guidance as I hang on to this little ball hurdling through the galaxy until the day that Jesus comes back again or he takes me home. – I am the Real Truckmaster!
