The Real Progressive

The Real Progressive

According to the adjective form of progressive is favoring or advocating progress, change, improvement, or reform, as opposed to wishing to maintain things as they are, especially in political matters. The noun form of progressive is a person who is progressive or who favors progress or reform, especially in political matters. Now let that sink in for a moment.

Just based on the above definition one would think they just described President Donald J. Trump and his America First agenda of bringing progressive change to the American workforce (more American factories and thus more jobs). Strengthening the American economy through lower taxes and by demanding the nations of the world pay their own way in NATO and with reciprocating tariffs, for starters. Bringing back American pride that encourages one to “put your money where your mouth is” like that Inspector Tag #12 on a garment that tells who approved this piece of clothing. The Trump agenda has demanded right from day one that Congress conduct Comprehensive Immigration Reform and close any loopholes or blatant errors in the way we conduct immigration. The president has even suggested that Congress go back to the common sense way of conducting business that prevents the current “running in place” where nothing gets done or gets done quickly.

Within the House of Representatives there are well over 242 Congressional Caucuses and Committees or Taskforces that determine what gets done and approved by whom? One of the largest is the House’s Democratic Progressive Party Caucus chaired by none other than House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. After the 2016 election Congresswoman Pelosi basically declared her priority was to “Stop Trump”. After the mid-term election and her battle to regain her position as House Speaker that priority was intensified and transmitted through members of the House’s Progressive Caucus.

From what I gather in the press briefings, house committee proceedings and flare-ups within the House not only is the priority to “Stop Trump” as pushed by the old guard (Pelosi), but there is a very real and persistent threat to the old guard by some very vocal, but junior freshmen in the House like Representative Alexandria Ocasio Cortez and others who challenge the status quo. I wouldn’t be surprised to see House Democrats voting on a new speaker in the very near future, say after the 2020 elections.

That brings another angle into focus virtually all of the Democratic challenging President Trump have pledged to take America back in time to the founding by promoting higher taxes, lots of free stuff and pushing for historical reform through the elimination of our history all together. Statues removed, streets renamed to remove the names of former slave owners. Interestingly enough one of those running for President comes from a family who owned slaves (but then that doesn’t count does it Sen. Harris)?

American’s favor immigration when it’s done properly and legally and wonder why Congress has not fixed this issue in the past 50 years or at least began anew after President Trump made his appeal after his inauguration.

American’s also favor abstinence or adoption instead of abortion. Abortion robs society of so much potential. Democratic candidates have all signed on to abortion, without considering the future citizens and future voters that are terminated in the abortion clinic. Approve of it or not, abortion is murder plain and simple.

The issue of higher taxes by all the Democratic candidates should cause every American to rethink who they should vote for. Raising taxes without curtailing spending is ludicrous and using higher taxes to pay for all the free stuff being promised to Democratic voters is beyond insane.

I’m not a political guru or a rocket scientist and not even a brain surgeon, but in my humble opinion the real progressive is President Donald J. Trump for whom results matter. I look forward to another term for POTUS 45. – I am the Real Truckmaster!
