Welcome To My World

Welcome to My World

Maybe I come from a musical family because “People say I’m the life of the party because I tell a joke or two” from one of my favorite Smokey Robinson songs – Tracks of My Tears. Growing up in southwestern Idaho in the 1950s – 1960s has given me a unique perspective on life and when coupled with a military career that spanned the Vietnam War to Desert Shield it’s not a bad thing. When I began to listening to country music and one of my favorite singers was Jim Reeves.

His version of – “Welcome To My World

Welcome to my world won’t you come on in
Miracles I guess still happen now and then
Step into my heart leave your cares behind
Welcome to my world built with you in mind

Knock and the door will open seek and you will find
Ask and you will be given the key to this world of mine

I’ll be waiting here with my arms unfurled
Waiting just for you welcome to my world

During the end of my military service I switched over to contemporary Christian music where the emphasis is not on me, per say, but on praising and honoring God. One of the first Christian groups I listened to was a Christian Rock band call Petra. One of their songs from their album The Best of Petra Praise, called Take Me In literally spoke to my heart, my inner being. It’s a rather short song, but when you’re in your quiet place, meditating on the magnificence of God, WOW – this song will bring you to your knees.

Take Me In

Take me past the outer courts
Into the Holy place
Past the brazen altar
Lord I want to see Your face
Pass me by the crowds of people
The priests who sing Your praise
I hunger and thirst for Your righteousness
And it’s only found one place

Take me in to the Holy of Holies
Take me in by the blood of the Lamb
Take me in to the Holy of Holies
Take the coal, cleanse my lips, here I am
Take the coal, cleanse my lips, here I am

I don’t know what “floats your boat” (dad was a navy man) but I challenge you to go outside your comfort zone, live life the way God intended – in the NOW. Don’t let anyone steal your joy. Guard your heart and your tongue (even your fingers as you type, text or email others). Don’t let a bad situation today affect your tomorrows. God has not promised that life would be a walk in the park, rose garden or easy, but he has promised to never leave us, nor forsake us. I like the sign (above), stating how far walking back to God is from where you are now. Make that trip joyful in songs of praise to the one who created you and me. – I am the Real Truckmaster!
