President Trump Has Been Impeached
As reported a short time ago the House of Representatives voted to Impeach President Donald J. Trump for Abuse of Power and Obstruction of Congress. This is a historic action taken by the Democratic Majority in the House and Speaker Nancy Pelosi. I’m sure glad it wasn’t something serious like High Crimes and Misdemeanors or Treason?
In fact it seems like the past 3 years were just a fact finding mission which in the end found no facts at all, so a president who refused to play ball and let members of his administration or staff go before the House Committee clearly abused the power of his office without violating the Constitution. It was the obstruction of Congress portion that was rather laughable because the only obstruction was that done BY CONGRESS while the House and the Senate have sought to prevent the President from administering his office.
So while the House Democrats celebrate that they have taken down the sitting president, it now goes to the Senate where the facts in this case will be reviewed and in case of a trial where the Senate becomes the jury and the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court becomes the Judge.
Yes Trump is the 3rd President to be impeached, and even though William Jefferson Clinton actually committed crimes while in the White House he was not removed from office.
I don’t see this impeachment ending well for members of Congress who voted to impeach a president who wouldn’t play ball the Democratic Party way (no rules unless you are Trump). The backlash in the coming 2020 election will insure that many congressional seats will see new members coming to Washington in the 117th Congress in 2021.
As for President Trump, he will be reelected in 2020 and many of those who perpetuated this impeachment fiasco will learn that what is good for the gander is also good for the geese. There are many irregularities that have surfaced during the past several months and as one former president once said, “Elections have consequences”. – I am the Real Truckmaster!
