The Most Pressing Issue of Our Time
America is at a crossroad morally and politically. We hold ourselves up as a “light upon a hill” and people are coming here by the thousands with a vision of living the “American Dream”. So what is the American Dream? Living freely in a land where “if you can see it, you can be it” and where abortion is “a woman’s right to choose”.
We get so caught up in political discussions that we often lose sight of the underlying causes of the ills of our society.
1 Timothy 6:10, “For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.”
Nobody wants to be told how, what, when or where to do ANYTHING and correction is unacceptable. When people don’t learn about or forget history, they are bound to relearn it (reinvent the wheel).
Politics seems to be the art of compromise and deception so that one segment of society can have their way over another segment of society. It’s making a mountain out of a mole hill in order to make money moving the mountain.
It has been said that money makes the world go around. So why keep chasing after money (riches) which satisfy no one and there is never enough?
In religious circles churches have split over the color of choir robes, carpeting and even the style of the pews (chairs). We often get so caught up in temporal things that we miss the most simple and eternal things in life.
John 3: 16 – 21
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
We come into the world with nothing. We spend our lives going after “stuff”. When we die we will go out the same way we came in, with nothing.
