All Tractor but no Lawn

All Tractor but no Lawn

While having lunch today with a friend our conversation got around to my telling him of a John Deere lawn tractor/mower I saw at a local Goodwill store several months back. I looked to be one that had seldom seen use. The price was a bit steep at $399.

As I stood beside it, looking it over like a driver looking at his race car, I could vision myself on 10+ acres of grass just mowing along while soaking up the sun. Then I remember using a small Montgomery Ward riding lawn mower on 8+ acres of church property. I’d go out every Saturday, fill the tank with the gas I brought from home. Then I’d go for hours, stopping occasionally to replace the belt that kept jumping off the pulley or refilling the gas tank.

Now I’m back to this JD at the Goodwill and I could see me doing the same thing only this time with a bigger, more powerful machine. It must be a man thing to be out in the sun, the smell of gasoline in the air and the aroma of fresh cut grass mixed with weeds.

The problems I’d have today are that I’d burn quickly in the sun and with the medications I take daily I could not go more than 20 – 30 minutes without having a porta-potty nearby and readily available. The other problem is that of a lawn. I do have a lawn that is at best a 20’ x 10’ rectangle that wouldn’t pay for a riding lawn mower. My front wheel drive self-propelled mower can handle the job in about 20 minutes, tops. Looking back maybe I should have bought it just to pull it out in the driveway and rub some polish or wax on it until that JD green and yellow really shined. The Hypocrisy of the Self-Righteous

1-13-2019

The Hypocrisy of the Self-Righteous

During the ministry years of Jesus, the Pharisees (religious leaders) continually criticized Jesus as he ministered to the needs of the people particularly in the Synagogues and especially on the Sabbath (as recorded in the 13th Chapter of Luke). Jesus saw a woman who had a need for 18 years. He healed her and she praised God. The Pharisee tried rebuking Jesus by stating there were 6 days during the week he could and should have healed her, but not on the Sabbath. Jesus called them hypocrites. Did they not free their animals and take them to water on the Sabbath? This was just one account of the hypocrisy Jesus encountered during his entire earthly ministry.

I am reminded of today’s political environment, the Presidency of Donald Trump and the hypocritical liberal left members of Congress where every step, word and deed is criticized and openly debated as a negative connotation.  Trump has singlehandedly improved the US economy using good business practices instead of the failed political thinking of previous administrations.

Trump’s aggressive foreign policy decisions are continually being talked apart, even when the positive impact is being felt around the globe. Trump’s “America First” stance has been labeled racist, because it is a complete opposite of the globalist elitists plan for a single world government.

Trump’s stance on lawful immigration is being touted as racist and unchristian like by those who should be fighting tooth and nail for the comprehensive reform of immigration policies which they themselves have drafted and brought into law.

Trump’s campaign promise to “Build the Wall and Mexico will pay for it” has been met with stiff resistance and cries of “liar, liar, pants on fire” because the outgoing Mexican President said Mexico will not pay for a wall; yet the incoming Mexican President said Mexico will accommodate the US by designating the area adjacent to the border as a sort of DMZ. We hear nothing from the liberals on this.

I’ll bet if Trump declared he was for Legalized Abortions and complete funding of Planned Parenthood the congress would turn off all funding and PPP would in fact go out of business.

So Jesus said the things he did his disciples would do even more, and the rejection and distain he was held in during his earthly ministry would be passed on even to his followers. So why is it surprising that when Trump ran for the presidency the hypocritical left and the liberal Democrats began their attacking, using the very things they themselves were doing and had been for quite some time? After becoming President, Donald Trump has had all the forces of evil seemingly loosed on the earth and gathered against him.

I have this to say. This article is not equating Donald Trump to Jesus – no way, no how.

When Jesus walked among us upon the earth he was not accepted in his own home town. Many went after him and tried to silence him because he not only spoke the truth, Jesus IS the Truth, the Way and the Life. He died, was buried and rose again for the sins of all mankind.

Donald Trump became president because God had a purpose and a plan for him as president. Like all sinners, Donald Trump became available, committed and came to know God and accepted God’s plan for his presidency. Trump is a businessman, a fighter and someone who will not quit.

Let me be perfectly clear God is not on Trump’s side. That is not how God operates. One is either on God’s side or against him. I pity those who come up against God, or against his anointed in the performance of their appointed task. Trump is on God’s side, and committed to do whatever God asks him to do, without reservation. One man with God is a majority and unstoppable.

What President Trump has accomplished in his first 2 years is nothing short of historic and amazing because God is amazing. The hypocritical resistance failed before it begun because God was and is not in it. So long as Trump remains in the perfect will of God he will continue to succeed where others before him have failed. – I am the Real Truckmaster!

Why is Religion so Appealing?

1-13-2019

Why is Religion so Appealing?

There are many proverbs, sayings and even scripture that talks about religion. Some say that all religions take you to the same place and it was once said that the road to Hell is paved with good intentions. I have a saying that religion will take you to Hell faster than a speeding train wreck.

In Luke 7:13 Jesus said, “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and many enter through it.”

Everyone wants to go to “Heaven” but live their life like it is just one giant party where the one with the most toys wins. Wins what? Have you noticed that when you go to a funeral the deceased person is the most loved and the best person one could ever have known? They are said to be looking down on us right now and it was such a blessing to have known them.

Even on television crime shows the homicide detective asks a friend or family member if the deceased had any enemies and they always respond with, “No, everybody loved little Johnny”. Well obviously not everybody loved him or he wouldn’t have ended up with a dozen bullet holes in him or those 32 stab wounds.

There’s a story that used to go like this:

A man dies and standing at the pearly gates he’s given a choice of Heaven or Hell. Before making his choice he’s given the option of seeing what each is like. He sees Heaven as a place where everyone is like angels with wings and just sitting on clouds, strumming on harps. Boring he thinks. Then he sees Hell as a party place, dancing, drinking and they even got a golf course. Everyone’s having a good time. His natural instinct say’s Hell is cool and he chooses Hell. As he enters Hell he smells the sulfur burning, smoke and fire everywhere and there’s no turning back. False advertising he yells at Satan. Satan replies “I just had a good advertising campaign, or you wouldn’t be here, stand over there and be quiet………..!”.

The truth of the matter is that religions are manmade institutions meant to control and prevent mankind from having a relationship with almighty God. Religion does not take you to Heaven. There is no Baptist section; no Pentecostal section; no Mormon section; and no Catholic section. There’s not even a Muslim or Islamic section; no Buddhist or Shinto sections either.

The only way to get to Heaven is through a relationship with Jesus who is the Christ.

In Luke 7:14 Jesus said,But small is the gate and narrow the way that leads to life, and only a few find it.”

The time for choosing Heaven is now while you yet live. Everyone lives but one life and choosing eternal life is entering a relationship with Jesus, asking him to forgive you of your sin, then turning away from that sinful life and following after him with your whole heart, mind, body and soul.

John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that he sent his one and only son that whosoever believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.”

That is the good news that “God Loves You” and has made a way for you to live with HIM in Heaven eternally. It is up to you to choose relationship, not religion.

James 4:7, “Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.”

Religions are like opinions, everybody either has one or wants one bad enough to create one.

Matthew 12:15-20, “15 Beware of false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. 16 By their fruit you will recognize them. Are grapes gathered from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? 17 Likewise, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 So then, by their fruit you will recognize them.”

Do not believe everything others tell you. God has given each of us the ability to reason. We are to take every word and compare it to what the bible tells us. If what is being said does not measure up, we are to run away. Don’t take my word for it. Stand on the Word of God, it is the Word of Truth and after all we will all stand before the Judgement Throne of God, where every knee will bow and every tongue will declare that Jesus Christ is Lord. – I am the Real Truckmaster!

Humans are Migratory and Immigration is Essential

1-12-2019

Humans are Migratory and Immigration is Essential

This is not just about the “One World Order” or the current “Open Borders” fad going on around the globe. In order to understand why humans are migratory one must go back to the book of Genesis in the bible. We are first told that God created man in his image and that out of man he created woman. Of all the species God created them male and female.

The Tower of Babel

https://www.biblestudytools.com/bible-stories/the-tower-of-babel.html

“In the book of Genesis we read about “the descendants of Noah were living in the area of Mesopotami in Babylon. They settled in a land named Shinar. The population was growing and they all spoke one language. The people decided to build a tall, proud symbol of how great they had made their nation. The Babylonians wanted a tower that would “reach to the heavens” so that they could be like God and that they would not need Him. They began to construct a great ziggurat.”

“God did not like the pride and arrogance in the hearts of the people. God caused the people to suddenly speak different languages so they could not communicate and work together to build the tower. This caused the people to scatter across the land. The tower was named The Tower of Babel because the word Babel means confusion. This story is a powerful reminder of how important it is to obey God’s Word and to not think that we can build a successful but godless life on our own!”

Genesis 11: 1-9

1 Now the whole world had one language and a common speech. 2 As people moved eastward, they found a plain in Shinar and settled there. 3 They said to each other, “Come, let’s make bricks and bake them thoroughly.” They used brick instead of stone, and tar for mortar. 4 Then they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city, with a tower that reaches to the heavens, so that we may make a name for ourselves; otherwise we will be scattered over the face of the whole earth.” 5 But the LORD came down to see the city and the tower the people were building. 6 The LORD said, “If as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them. 7 Come, let us go down and confuse their language so they will not understand each other.” 8 So the LORD scattered them from there over all the earth, and they stopped building the city. 9 That is why it was called Babel —because there the LORD confused the language of the whole world. From there the LORD scattered them over the face of the whole earth.

There are important lessons to be learned today in 2019 about pride and accomplishments that often take the place of God in our lives. We are told in the bible that pride comes before a fall. We are also told to do all things as unto God. We can only do that by placing God first in our lives.

When God confused the language of the people and scattered them over the whole world it literally changed everything man knew about himself. Families became settlements that became tribes and turned into nations. Out of the chaos God established rulers and governments. In many instances God relocated entire nations according to his plan and purpose.

It is a basic human right to freely live in peace and raise a family. We may not have chosen where we are born, but we sometimes make decisions as to where we choose to live. However there are rules, regulations and national laws that must be adhered to if we move away from our ancestral homeland. Moving from one location to another we call migration. Some people spend their entire lives living in the same house or in the same town. While others migrate from city to city or state to state and we say they are moving around. It’s not a problem when you stay within the confines of the United States. However choosing to move to another country you must do some homework to find out what you may be required to do in order to migrate there. Many countries require you be self-sufficient and not become a burden to them. Others restrict your right to own land, or a business or even to become a tour guide, reserving certain rights to citizens of that country.

There are those who wish to come to the United States to get a fresh start and raise their family without fear and practice their religion freely. We welcome them with open arms and they each bring value to our nation. There are certain requirements that must be met and procedures that must be followed for the lawful and orderly migration and settlement into any given community. Those wishing to become citizens must learn about this country and its laws. They must obtain employment, housing and begin working toward citizenship. Those who break the laws of this country will be subject to fines, incarceration and/or deportation.

Those who break the laws in order to enter this country illegally are not eligible to remain in this country and will be deported. Those who aid and/or assist the illegal entry of an alien immigrant are also subject to fines, incarceration and/or deportation.

It is the right and responsibility of a sovereign nation to protect its borders and to refuse entry of any person deemed a threat to national security or for any reason. It is by the authority of the Constitution of the United States that the President of the United States may determine to restrict or refuse entry of any/or all immigrants. Placing barriers along the nation’s southern border is simply a method of directing immigrants to authorized access points where they are checked for proper documentation before being allowed or disallowed entry into the United States and those who call that immoral or racist is wrong.

U.S. government officials who fail to uphold the laws of this nation are in fact breaking the laws and dishonoring their responsibility for protecting and defending the Constitution of the United States. They also place no importance on national security, nor the safety of the citizens they represent. It is therefore the responsibility of the citizens to call for their removal from office for ethics violations and for their unlawful and dishonorable conduct. https://www.ethics.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/site-map

For a fact human migration is natural, but chaotic and uncontrolled migration organized to challenge the sovereignty of any nation is an invasion to be defended against by armed forces if necessary. It is way past time to continue to allow political correctness to stand in the way of national security. It is time to take seriously the security and safety of citizens of the United States of America, first and foremost. – I am the Real Truckmaster!

What You Don’t Know About the Presidency of Donald Trump

1-10-2019

What You Don’t Know About the Presidency of Donald Trump

With references from “The Faith of Donald J. Trump”

By David Brody and Scott Lamb

God is the creator. Sometimes he takes an earthen vessel, an unworthy and broken person to use for a specific purpose. Often it is the least likely or the one overlooked by society. Other times it is someone who seems to have it all. Regardless it is always someone who makes themselves available for God to use and it is always someone obedient to the call of God upon their lives.

Chuck Colson the founder of Prison Ministries used to teach about that God’s common grace is bestowed upon unredeemed humanity such as judges, police, governors and rulers for the restraining of evil and God often establishes officials, even those who are not believers to restrain the evil in a society.

What the bible tells us is that when God calls us, he has already prepared the way and promises to be with us every step of the way. What we must do is prepare ourselves to be able to hear when God calls. We must then be obedient and say, “Yes Lord, here I am”.

Without going into a great deal of detail about Donald Trump I will say that God had been drawing him toward the presidency since the late 1980’s.  This is verified by television interviews of Donald Trump by a host of television personalities. One thing about Donald Trump is that he just doesn’t run a race to be running; he doesn’t do something to say he tried either. Trump plans out the event or activity and when he commits himself, it’s to win. This was drilled into him by his NYMA instructor (1959 – 1964) who taught his students that winning wasn’t everything, winning was the only thing.

Back around 2000 Donald Trump met and became friends with television evangel Pastor Paula White. At the prompting of God she became a spiritual mentor and friend to show who God was. In 2012 Trump called her and said he was thinking about running for President. After a time of prayer he didn’t run, but he called again in 2015 and told her he felt God speaking to him to run. Paula White asked what she could do and he asked her to bring pastors in to him, she did.

It was during the pre-primary days in the fall of 2015 when the owner of a Dallas consulting firm Dr. Lance Wallnau correctly prophesied that Donald Trump would be the next President of the United States after hearing from God on two occasions. Dr. Wallnau did not know, nor had he met Trump yet God chose him to speak prophetically to Trump that he was “the next President of the United States and he will be the forty-fifth president, and he will be an Isaiah 45 president”.

Dr. Lance Wallnau was also a biblical teacher in Dallas, Texas yet when God spoke to him he didn’t know who Isaiah was talking about? So he opened the bible to Isaiah 45 and read, “Thus says the Lord to Cyrus whom I’ve anointed.” He knew that Donald Trump corresponded to the Cyrus character in the bible. He also knew that Donald Trump would be God’s wrecking ball – the forty-fifth president.

What also became evident was when God said “And I will build for Israel my people’s sake” and “Though you have not known me.” It was clear at this point that Donald Trump knew of and about God, but did not know God.

All this was relayed directly to Donald Trump in a room full of African-American pastors in a meeting at Trump Tower in New York City in 2015. Dr. Wallnau read the entire chapter 45 of Isaiah and cited that this was written 100 years before Cyrus became king.

Isaiah 45 English Standard Version (ESV)

Cyrus, God’s Instrument

45 Thus says the Lord to his anointed, to Cyrus,
whose right hand I have grasped,
to subdue nations before him
and to loose the belts of kings,
to open doors before him
that gates may not be closed:
“I will go before you
and level the exalted places,[a]
I will break in pieces the doors of bronze
and cut through the bars of iron,
I will give you the treasures of darkness
and the hoards in secret places,
that you may know that it is I, the Lord,
the God of Israel, who call you by your name.
For the sake of my servant Jacob,
and Israel my chosen,
I call you by your name,
I name you, though you do not know me.
I am the Lord, and there is no other,
besides me there is no God;
I equip you, though you do not know me,
that people may know, from the rising of the sun
and from the west, that there is none besides me;
I am the Lord, and there is no other.
I form light and create darkness;
I make well-being and create calamity;
I am the Lord, who does all these things.

“Shower, O heavens, from above,
and let the clouds rain down righteousness;
let the earth open, that salvation and righteousness may bear fruit;
let the earth cause them both to sprout;
I the Lord have created it.

“Woe to him who strives with him who formed him,
a pot among earthen pots!
Does the clay say to him who forms it, ‘What are you making?’
or ‘Your work has no handles’?
10 Woe to him who says to a father, ‘What are you begetting?’
or to a woman, ‘With what are you in labor?’”

11 Thus says the Lord,
the Holy One of Israel, and the one who formed him:
“Ask me of things to come;
will you command me concerning my children and the work of my hands?[b]
12 I made the earth
and created man on it;
it was my hands that stretched out the heavens,
and I commanded all their host.
13 I have stirred him up in righteousness,
and I will make all his ways level;
he shall build my city
and set my exiles free,
not for price or reward,”
says the Lord of hosts.

The Lord, the Only Savior

14 Thus says the Lord:
“The wealth of Egypt and the merchandise of Cush,
and the Sabeans, men of stature,
shall come over to you and be yours;
they shall follow you;
they shall come over in chains and bow down to you.
They will plead with you, saying:
‘Surely God is in you, and there is no other,
no god besides him.’”

15 Truly, you are a God who hides himself,
O God of Israel, the Savior.
16 All of them are put to shame and confounded;
the makers of idols go in confusion together.
17 But Israel is saved by the Lord
with everlasting salvation;
you shall not be put to shame or confounded
to all eternity.

18 For thus says the Lord,
who created the heavens
(he is God!),
who formed the earth and made it
(he established it;
he did not create it empty,
he formed it to be inhabited!):
“I am the Lord, and there is no other.
19 I did not speak in secret,
in a land of darkness;
I did not say to the offspring of Jacob,
‘Seek me in vain.’[c]
I the Lord speak the truth;
I declare what is right.

20 “Assemble yourselves and come;
draw near together,
you survivors of the nations!
They have no knowledge
who carry about their wooden idols,
and keep on praying to a god
that cannot save.
21 Declare and present your case;
let them take counsel together!
Who told this long ago?
Who declared it of old?
Was it not I, the Lord?
And there is no other god besides me,
a righteous God and a Savior;
there is none besides me.

22 “Turn to me and be saved,
all the ends of the earth!
For I am God, and there is no other.
23 By myself I have sworn;
from my mouth has gone out in righteousness
a word that shall not return:
‘To me every knee shall bow,
every tongue shall swear allegiance.’[d]

24 “Only in the Lord, it shall be said of me,
are righteousness and strength;
to him shall come and be ashamed
all who were incensed against him.
25 In the Lord all the offspring of Israel
shall be justified and shall glory.”

For the non-believer this is totally unbelievable.

For the believer we have example after example of God doing miracles like these throughout history (Adam and Eve; Noah; Moses; Cyrus; Jesus; Paul and many, many others).

In recent United States history we have George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Paul Revere, Abraham Lincoln, Ulysses S. Grant, Robert E. Lee, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Harry S. Truman, Dwight D. Eisenhower, John F. Kennedy, Ronald Reagan, George W. Bush, Barack Obama and now Donald Trump and many others.

These men are all common, ordinary men who rose under extra-ordinary circumstances. Each chosen and established by God, not for our benefit, but that God might be glorified.

What I see happening today is not simply an attack on President Donald Trump, but an attack on what God is doing through Donald Trump. Political Correctness has taken a firm grip on America. It will not be easily broken. It will take the steady hand of God using a fighter, a warrior yielding a sword to restrain and defeat the evil of our society.

So long as President Donald Trump remains focused on his mission, continues to place his trust in God there is nothing that can stop him because with God all things are possible and man with God is a majority. May God bless the United States and may God bless President Donald J. Trump.

Self-Righteous Liberals

Self-Righteous Liberals

I know that many of you are not happy with my posts. You wish I would simply stop writing and that is your prerogative. It is my intention not to attack but to reveal the stupidity exhibited from the liberal left and given voice from the Democrats in Congress or in the Main Stream Media (fake news).

I try to educate the reader with facts that are sometimes too subtle to see and even harder to recognize in order to present a clear picture of what is happening in American politics today. I think of it this way if Congress were an insane asylum and all the residents were screaming to get out, whose voice would be the loudest to be heard? Who would be the most believable? Who would care?

We’ve all heard the fairy tale of the boy who cried wolf so many times that when he actually saw a wolf and tried to tell the towns people nobody believed him. That is what keeps coming out of the mouths of those in political power within the halls of Congress.

The current Speaker of the House of Representatives is Nancy Pelosi Democrat from California with 30 years in Congress. During a recent meeting with President Trump (when she was the Speaker-Designate) she tried to tell the President not to under estimate “her” importance at that meeting which went nowhere. After her taking the gavel she has not shown leadership in the house. She remains like the boy who cried wolf only she is crying “no funds for Trumps wall”. Even then the House passed a bill to fund the wall, but it failed to pass in the Senate because of the Minority Leader Chuck Schumer Democrat from New York with 19 years in Congress.

Every time the President asks for Congressional funding for the wall, the Democrats simply stick with the word “No” as noted at yesterday’s White House meeting of the Democrat leadership with President Trump. Not wasting any time President Trump simply ended the meeting and left the room, which took both Pelosi and Schumer by surprise. Did they think Trump would sit there while they groveled and barked their demands and ignored the elephant in the room (funding for the wall)?

It amazes me that prior to become President, Trump, Pelosi and Schumer were all friends and all were Democrats. Let that sink in for a minute or two. The powerful looked for ways to have their pictures taken with the rich and famous and he greased many a Democrat campaign fund.

How soon they forget a simple yet most important fact of life – You can’t “out trump” Trump. They simply don’t know jack about “The Donald” or as he is now known – Mr. President! – I am the Real Truckmaster!

Hindsight is NOT 20/20

1-9-2019

Hindsight Is NOT 20-20

How’s this for a hump day, middle of the week “activity”. Just got home from the doctor’s office where they did a biopsy and took six samples from the inside of my prostate. I’m not an anatomy major by any means but somewhere below the stomach there are a lot of moving parts, prostate, colon, bladder, and a couple of so called private parts.

The day started off with a home application of a saline enema 2 hours prior to the appointment. The box says it works in minutes. It did, literally in seconds.

Since it’s a 20 – 25 minute drive my concern is a relapse while driving, you know where you have to find a gas station with an easily accessible restroom. I began drinking this bottle of water on the way so I would be able to leave the required urine sample.

Turns out I didn’t need the restroom. Check in was quick and easy. Left the urine sample in the little access door for the nurse to retrieve and send to get checked.

Then it was like the Army, hurry up and wait. Sat in the waiting area watching my appointment time came and went. Got to watch all these old people coming in with canes, walkers, wheelchairs and family members (I’m just 69, but not old, ok?). I made a couple of trips to the restroom as the water began to filter down through my body into the area with the moving parts.

Finally it was my turn and the doctor came to get me. We chatted as we went through the hall and he said it would be a piece of cake (with his 28 years of experience). We got to the room and he said to strip down to shirt and socks only. Then sit on the edge of the bed, cover myself with the sheet and he’d be right back. I wondered why the shirt and socks? Did he not need to see my hairy chest or wrinkled up feet? But I complied.

(A little aside here) if I don’t write it down while it’s still fresh in my mind, I’ll have a bit of trouble remembering it later.

He came in and said to lie on my left side, bring my knees up to my chest and relax. (How do you relax when you’re naked on what resembles an operating room table?) I tried. I felt the shot he administered to numb my southern border (had to get that in). Then he waited for it to take effect. A female doctor came in and said she was assisting him in the procedure. Then it was time to begin.

He said once he began I would feel a puff of air and virtually no pain. Yep there was the puff of air and no pain at all. About half way through I began to feel strange, weird and he asked if I was ok? I told him I felt like I was going to barf (vomit) out of both ends. He brought me a pan and paper towel and then ALL #&@* broke loose. I have never felt like that before and I hope never again. As I began to barf (vomit) old faithful irrupted and although I couldn’t see it, my mental picture was that of a firehose shooting water on a fire, not once, not twice, but three times in rapid succession. I felt bad for them when they went to get another biohazard bag, like I said in the title “hindsight is not 20/20”, it’s just plain ugly.

Then I had to lie there about 15 minutes afterwards until I began to feel like myself again. I was helped to my feet and told to get dressed. Then escorted back into the waiting room where I was told to grab a cup of coffee, sit for a spell and wait until I felt I was safe to drive home. I walked over to the coffee area, grabbed a cup and one tiny drop of coffee came out (empty container). So I filled my cup with water and headed out the door to the truck and came home where I had coffee waiting. All is well, but like a bad movie, everything came out in the end. – I am the Real Truckmaster!

The White House Briefing on Border Security by President Trump

After President Trump’s short briefing to the nation tonight some of the commentators commented on what the President said about the Democrats have voted in the past on funding a wall, but changed their tune when Trump was elected.

So my questions are if the wall had been previously funded as far back as 2012, why has a wall NOT been built already?

Where did the money go?

Why are we still taking about building a wall?

More importantly why are the Democrats so adamant on doing nothing simply because the President wants to do something?

Let’s fund border security (including a steel barrier fence) and reopen the government and move on with Congress doing Comprehensive Immigration Reform like they’ve been asked by the President to do for the past 2 years. – I am the Real Truckmaster!

Ethics in Government

Ethics in Government

Everyone knows the fairy tale of Pinocchio who longed to be a boy and whenever he told a lie his nose grew longer. There are other fairy tales, stories and even movies about puppets and the marionettes. It’s fascinating to watch how the puppet master can maneuver the strings making the puppet seemingly come to life.

The events that have come to light over the past 2 years of the Trump Administration have shown how the Legislative Branch of the U.S. Congress, both the House and the Senate have literally played the American people, US Citizens, for fools by subjecting us to political side shows like the alleged sexual scandals and judicial nomination hearings that remind us of circus side shows.

The MSM have done their part in orchestrating the emphasis of non-issues into major talking points at the egging on by political mouthpieces like now Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and others who grandstand in front of the cameras with an audience, thereby playing the antagonist in defaming our sitting President Donald Trump.

We The People have been sucked right into their play like audiences in the movies or readers of the fairy tales. So emboldened have we become that some have gone so far as to get in on the action by running for political office, and winning a coveted seat at the table of Congress. In the spirit of celebrating there are those like newly elected Representatives Rashida Tlaib with ties to the Muslim Brotherhood and  Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez who’s claim to fame is being the youngest person elected to Congress. These women and other seasoned members of Congress have not yet learned, have forgotten or have chosen to ignore Ethical standards which should govern our lives daily to treat others with respect.

GENERAL ETHICAL STANDARDS

Overview

Members, officers, and employees of the House should:

  • Conduct themselves at all times in a manner that reflects creditably on the
  • House;
  • Abide by the spirit as well as the letter of the House rules; and
  • Adhere to the broad ethical standards expressed in the Code of Ethics for Government Service.

They should not in any way use their office for private gain. Nor should they attempt to circumvent any House rule or standard of conduct.

Employees must observe any additional rules, regulations, standards, or practices established by their employing Members.

The Committee on Standards of Official Conduct urges Members, officers, and employees of the House to call or to write the Committee with any questions regarding the propriety of any current or proposed conduct. The Committee‘s Office of Advice and Education will provide confidential, informal advice over the telephone, and the Committee will provide confidential, formal written opinions to any Member, officer, or employee with a question within its jurisdiction.

There are no words to justify making a public spectacle or setting a bad precedence or example especially when one choses to go into “Public Service” where the goal should be to make the nation better for the greater good of ALL American citizens.

That being said, did you know that there IS something we can do besides letting ourselves be sucked into this political game of shells?

There is the Office of Congressional Ethics which is charged with reviewing allegations of misconduct against Members, officers and employees of the U.S. House of Representatives. There are various state and federal agencies responsible for overseeing compliance with rules and regulations in their specific areas of government. They can also be found here: https://oce.house.gov/learn/related-resources

For those who are unaware The U.S. Office of Government Ethics (https://www.oge.gov/) establishes standards of conduct for the executive branch, ensures transparency in government through financial disclosure, educates executive branch employees and promotes good governance.

New legislators undergo video training and must sign a document verifying they have done so. It is totally feasible that new legislators have not yet taken this training, but for seasoned legislators there can be no excuse for the conduct we see on a daily basis coming from the hill.

I urge you to do as I have done and write, email, text or tweet your U.S. Representatives and U.S. Senators to lodge your complaint EVERY TIME you see a member of Congress conduct themselves in an inappropriate manner. Then follow up by using the links above to the appropriate agency charged with oversight responsibility. – I am the Real Truckmaster!

Ethical Standards In Congress

Ethical Standards In Congress

I guess that winning a political office, especially a Congressional seat must be like winning the lottery. Now that you’ve won you feel invincible and are on a political high and headed out to “conquer” your new world.

Then reality sets in and you’re literally the new kid on the block. What to do, what to do? I guess after you’ve acquired your spacious office in one of the new congressional office buildings, and have put up all your “stuff” on the walls, found your way to the restrooms and know which doors go where it’s time to “go to work”.

I’m sure there are “freshmen” classes to acquaint the newly elected to the political order of business and procedural rules and regulations and so on and so forth. Then someone has to “teach them the ropes” and how not to get in the way or how to prevent their toes from getting stepped on.

Wouldn’t it be nice if there was something that would teach these esteemed House and Senate members how to be nice and civil toward others. Maybe they need a sign that says “Doesn’t play well with others” that they must wear throughout their days in office, until they graduate to one that says “Team Player”.

But then again that wouldn’t really solve anything because existing members of Congress have gone way beyond that already. In fact many of the outspoken and disrespectful members of Congress already know about civility, respect and ethics and they have chosen to ignore them altogether.

Who are we hearing today in 2019, Hank Johnson, Maxine Waters, Cory Booker, Kamala Harris, Elijah Cummings and others who are members of the Congressional Black Caucus and acting in uncivilized manner toward President Trump. Their actions, words and deeds have emboldened some of the newly elected freshmen House and Senate members to the point they feel no shame or remorse being publicly and blatantly disrespectful toward the nations President.

So why hasn’t the Congress taken action in the form of a warning against the newly elected and/or acted to censure the seasoned legislators who call for harassment, harm and violence against current administration officials, their families and everyday citizens who support President Trump? Out of the 513 Congressional Caucuses, Task Forces, Working Groups and Committees these are a sampling of why Congress behaves as they do.

I looked through the entire list of Caucuses, not once did I find a Congressional Caucasian Caucus or a Congressional White Caucus. I did not find any Congressional European-American Caucuses either. Congress has virtually caucuses for just about everything else including the one on Antisemitism, yet we have an incoming member of Congress who is blatantly anti-Semitic and her actions have already been picked up by the news media. Nor did I see a Congressional Committee on the Southern Border Caucus. The only Caucus that seems to be working flawlessly is (#35 below) the No Political Action Committee Caucus and they seem to be very good at it.

Congress has an ethics code, an ethics committee and posted rules which are being ignored and violated, with no action being requested or taken against the offenders. The House Ethics Manual is from the 110th Congress, 2nd Session dated 2008. Maybe it’s time to update the manual and/or enforce the current one.

General Ethical Standards

Government is a trust, and the officers of the government are trustees; and both the trust and the trustees are created for the benefit of the people.

HENRY CLAY1

That ―public office is a public trust‖ has long been a guiding principle of government.2 To uphold this trust, Congress has bound itself to abide by certain standards of conduct, expressed in the Code of Official Conduct (House Rule 23)3 and the Code of Ethics for Government Service.4 These codes provide that Members, officers, and employees are to conduct themselves in a manner that will reflect creditably on the House, work earnestly and thoughtfully for their salary, and that they may not seek to profit by virtue of their public office, allow themselves to be improperly influenced, or discriminate unfairly by the dispensing of special favors. This chapter discusses the overarching principles that inform both codes, the penalties for violating their provisions, and the history and procedures of the Committee on Standards of Official Conduct.

Appropriate standards of conduct enhance the legislative process and build citizen confidence. ―Ethics rules, if reasonably drafted and reliably enforced, increase the likelihood that legislators (and other officials) will make decisions and policies on the basis of the merits of issues, rather than on the basis of factors (such as personal gain) that should be irrelevant.‖5 Members, officers, and employees should, at a minimum, familiarize themselves with the Code of Official Conduct and the Code of Ethics for Government Service. The Code of Official Conduct and the Code of Ethics for Government Service not only state aspirational goals for public officials, but violations of provisions contained therein may also provide the basis for disciplinary action in accordance with House rules.

Violations of Ethical Standards

Violations of ethical standards may lead to various penalties. The U.S. Constitution authorizes each House of Congress to punish its Members for disorderly behavior and, with the concurrence of two thirds, to expel a Member.6 The House may also punish a Member by censure, reprimand, condemnation, reduction of seniority, fine, or other sanction determined to be appropriate.7

A House rule specifically authorizes the Standards Committee to enforce standards of conduct for Members, officers, and employees; to investigate alleged violations of any law, rule, or regulation pertaining to official conduct; and to make recommendations to the House for further action.8 Committee rules reflect the Committee‘s authority to issue letters of reproval and to take other administrative action.9 House rules further provide that either with approval of the House or by an affirmative vote of two-thirds of its Members, the Committee may report substantial evidence of violation by a Member, officer, or employee to the appropriate federal or state authorities.10

Some standards of conduct derive from criminal law. Violations of these standards may lead to a fine or imprisonment, or both. In some instances, such as conversion of government funds or property to one‘s own use or false claims concerning expenses or allowances, the Department of Justice may seek restitution.

Among the sanctions that the Committee may recommend be imposed upon a Member in a disciplinary matter is the ―[d]enial or limitation of any right, power, privilege, or immunity of the Member if under the Constitution the House may impose such denial or limitation.‖11 The Committee may also recommend sanctions be imposed by the House against an officer or employee of the House. Such sanctions could include dismissal from employment, reprimand, fine, or other appropriate sanction.12

Charges of unethical conduct can be evaluated only on a case-by-case basis. As the Committee has noted, ―it was for the very purpose of evaluating particular situations against existing standards, and of weeding out baseless charges from legitimate ones, that this committee was created.‖13

Congress has Caucuses on Veterans, Homelessness, Sexual Violence, Elder Justice and Humanitarian issues, yet we see an increase on every level.

I have pulled the following 40 Caucuses and/or Committees as a visual display of what is wrong in our Congress. Members of the Congressional Black Caucus have instrumental roles and/or positions within over 100 different Caucuses, yet they concern themselves not with the betterment of Americans as a whole, but look for ways to promote and keep racism at the forefront by their conduct.

Remove the partisan politics and strip away the divisions by racial and ethnic origins that make up the fabric of the United States and what you have left are American’s who all want to live peacefully and strive to reach the American Dream without any special privileges or special treatment.

There needs to be a Congressional Oversight Committee with the power of a Special Counsel to seriously investigate these breaches of conduct which occur many times each day in the Legislative Branch. Not only investigate but recommend prosecution of those who violate the ethics and sully the reputation of Congress. Lawmakers can no longer remain Lawbreakers. Maybe send the entire 535 members back to Legislator 101 classes and start over. Make 2019 the Year of the Congressional Makeover! – I am the Real Truckmaster!
