Suffer the Little Children

“But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.” – Matthew 19:14 – King James Version (KJV).

Have you ever gotten the age of a child completely wrong? Try asking a 3 year old if he or she is 4 or 5, they’ll tell you, “NO I’M THREE!”

Children are not bashful about telling it to you straight. They don’t beat around the bush either. A few years ago a lady came into my wife’s beauty salon. She brought her little granddaughter with her. It didn’t take long before the little girl became bored and wanted to go into the back yard.

She went to my wife and asked, “Auntie, Can I go play in the back yard?”

See dear said my wife as she worked on her client’s hair.

The little girl didn’t move. She just stood there and asked, “But won’t that old grandpa get mad?”

I was close enough to hear their exchange and I’ve often wondered why my wife was auntie and I was that old grandpa? At that time I didn’t even have any grandkids yet.

Another time someone rang the doorbell and as I opened the door I saw a woman with her kids and a wagon full of Girl Scout cookies. Expecting the little girl to ask if I wanted to buy some cookies (I love the macaroons) I waited in anticipation for her to ask the question.

“You’re old!” she said. Her mom was in shock and began to apologize furiously for the behavior of her little brownie scout. I dismissed her with something like “Don’t worry I get this from kids all the time.”

Then I focused my full attention and turned my gaze toward the little girl and asked her, “Do you know what’s older than me?” She shook her head no. I said, “Dirt!” Then I proceeded to order a couple of boxes of my favorite cookies.

I’m reminded of my encounter with a little tyke when I was only 18 and stationed overseas in Thailand. I was at a village and bent down to my knees in front of this little guy, maybe 2 years old. Not knowing the language I brought my hands up in a boxing pose. Before I knew it or could take any evasive action this little guy did a Muay Thai kick that had it landed would have sent me flat to the ground (I never expected that).

When Jesus said “Suffer the little children….” Was he referring to OPK (other people’s kids) like these?

I’m a bit older now and my granddaughter has kids. That makes me a great-great-grandpa (twice as great). Recently we were in the middle of remodeling our house and the kids came over to check up on us (before Corona). We’re in my man cave (office) sitting in front of the 50” TV watching a cartoon movie and my 4 year old GGD looked at me and proclaimed, “Papa, You don’t have eyebrows!” Was I surprised? Sure but at least she didn’t say anything about my hair. – I am the Real Truckmaster!

More Than Meets The Eye

More Than Meets The Eye

It is nearing the end of April and since December 31st when China announced to the World Health Organization the existence in Wuhan of the 2019-nCoV soon dubbed SARS-CoV-2 everyone was taken literally by surprise.

The saga of the invisible virus now simply called the Coronavirus has lead experts to predict death tolls that would be astronomically high per capita and there was no cure. Next we were told to shelter in place (stay-at-home) so as not to spread the virus. Across the nation we were silently accepting what we were fed and locked up tight in our homes. We were told our jobs were non-essential and businesses were forced to close and noncompliance would result in prison sentences and hefty fines. We were led to believe that hospitals would be unable to handle the number of Coronavirus cases that were predicted as medical supplies (masks, gloves, gowns and ventilators) were non-existent or in critically short supply plus federal warehouses either had little or no stocks on hand.

Federal pressure have acted to coordinate manufacturing of personal protective equipment and temporary medical hospitals to handle the anticipated epidemic, while a number of hospitals laid off medical staff (doctors, nurses and specialists) and actually closed their doors due to inactivity.

The fate of humanity was in the balance as nation after nation shut down entire economies as people died. Seemingly the first casualties of this COVID-19 pandemic were toilet paper, hand sanitizer and medical grade masks as panic buying took the world literally by storm.

If that wasn’t enough there was little or no mention of the COVID-19 affecting the masses of homeless people squatting or camping out in urban cities across the nation. Were they locked in their tents and shelters on city streets as the nation hunkered down? Then it began in state after state where governors began releasing prisoners fearing the COVID-19 would spread within individual state penal systems.

We have churches spreading hope for a lost and dying world, locked down as mass gatherings are now prohibited. We have small businesses closed and many will never recover. Medical facilities are shut down and non-critical surgeries have completely stopped. On the flip side liquor stores and abortion clinics are still open. What is the solution? How are we going to get thru this pandemic? Is anybody going to get out alive?

With all that is going on around us nobody can see the forest for the tree that is impaled our own eyes. To have an entire planet shut down for an invisible virus with no cure is ridiculous. We have economies on the verge of collapse and the mass production of currency aimed at keeping nations afloat with no sustainability. We see the morphing of deaths from various causes all being coded as COVID-19 caused or contributed, even though there is no evidence to substantiate it, why?

An old saying comes to mind, “Follow the money”! It would appear that the widespread misuse or mismanagement of local, state and federal funds allow those in power able to use the COVID-19 pandemic to make cities and states profitable again.  Remember there is no such thing as a free ride. It has been recently released to the public that COVID-19 deaths bring substantially more federal funds to the hospital, city and state where the death occurred so long as the cause or contributing cause is the virus. From the beginning the finger pointing began as politicians postured in anticipation of the presidential campaign season, debates and the upcoming November 2020 presidential election. The horizon is beginning to look bright for those sequestered at home because now they can clearly see how incompetent many political leaders really are. It is time to take names and action to insure that those politicians who couldn’t get wet if they fell into the ocean are replaced by competent patriotic Americans who use the Constitution as a guide, not as toilet paper. – I am the Real Truckmaster!

Whose Water Are You Carrying?

Whose Water Are You Carrying?

I think it’s safe to say that our buckets may be different but our purpose is exactly the same. We are each created in the image of God and our purpose is to tell of his goodness and his love for each of us. Like it or not we are either on God’s team or we are not. There is no middle ground. No straddling the fence. If we are not for God we are against him. Mankind is the only species where success is defined by what WE do; the toys WE have or the things WE give priority. In the wild the survival of the fittest, strongest and most cunning is nature’s way of thinning out the herd and predatory beasts are top of the food chain.

It is basic human nature to outsmart the other guy. You only live once. Everyone knows the one who has the most toys wins. Bigger, better, faster, smarter are never enough. We want freedom to do what we want to do without anyone or anything getting in our way. It’s perfectly fine to step over (if not on) anyone to get the prize, the means justify the end.

At the end of our days here on earth we are often remembered by family and friends as a kind person, loving to our family, a good friend. In their minds we are in heaven looking down as their guardian angel. Like cream rises to the top, rocks sink in water and one bad apple spoils the whole box we are each appointed once to die and then the judgement. What we do matters!

So before you go nuclear and put on your political suit of armor just remember that no matter your station in life, where you live or what you have accumulated you are responsible and accountable for your actions, words and deeds. There will come a time when you will stand before the King of Kings, the Lord of Lords and have to answer an all-important question, “What did you do for the Kingdom of God?” Are you spreading gossip, lies or the truth? Do you lift up or tear down? Are you making a difference in the lives of those around you?

Whose water do YOU carry? – I am the Real Truckmaster!

The Muddy Waters

The Muddy Waters

A few years ago I was driving from a small town in Idaho toward the Oregon border. As I got nearer I noticed the Snake River covered with a heavy fog that made driving on I-84 completely unsafe. My immediate concern was not the freeway speed of 75 MPH or the fact that the highway had rapidly disappeared. I was worried about other drivers coming up behind me as I slowed to a safer speed or approaching traffic crossing the divider and crossing into my lane. I had made that trip so many years ago from Caldwell, Idaho over to Ontario, Oregon but never in a heavy fog like that early morning as I went to the Toyota dealership for an oil change and to check on my aunt Anita. That was then and today as I look at what’s happening with the Coronavirus causing worldwide economies to come crashing down just like the creeping fog I think it is more than just a coincidence.

We are experiencing a global meltdown over a virus nobody can see or knows what happened to let it out. Is it a natural bug or a manmade virus and was it accidentally or intentionally released upon the world we live in? Biblical scholars refer to the book of Revelations and what is written about the end times. Non-believers simply refuse to believe it is anything to worry about as they scurry around panic buying toilet paper, cleaning supplies and looking for their local government to provide them with germ free facemasks.

I recently watched a cable news program’s investigative report on this very thing and what they uncovered is beyond believable. There are several nations across the globe that conduct biochemical experiments in highly secure facilities that are Level 3 & 4 Biolabs dealing with the deadliest viruses known to mankind. These are top secret facilities and access is tightly controlled. The high level experiments are primarily for scientific purposes but can be for biological warfare purposes.

It’s unclear when these tests began, but in 2014 during the Obama Administration the White House threatened to defund these types of projects, but relented and testing continued. One such test was in a Biolab in North Carolina in 2015 where the virus of Horseshoe Bats (native to Wuhan, China) were used in what was called “Gain of Function” testing designed to enhance exposure and transmission rates making the virus more deadly. What was also interesting was who the participants were and where they were from. Two of the participants were from Wuhan, China. One was Zheng-Li Shi a well-known Chinese scientist from the Wuhan Institute of Virology, a Biolab located in Wuhan, known for maintaining more than 1,500 of the deadliest live viruses on the planet.

What is interesting is that in December 2019 Chinese nationals began returning from Wuhan, China to their jobs in Europe, Asia and the United States about the time the first case of what the Chinese labeled 2019-nCoV. This is a SARS-COV-2 coronavirus affectionately dubbed the Wuhan Virus, but renamed COVID-19.

As the investigative report showed on 7 February 2020 a Chinese Doctor Li Wenliang first noticed something peculiar and sounded the alarm in Wuhan. He was promptly detained, became infected and died of the 2019-nCoV. On 12 March 2020 Chinese Property Mogul Ren Zhiqiang complained about the CCP’s handling of the coronavirus and he too simply disappeared. There was another Doctor Ai Fen who disappeared under mysterious circumstances without so much as an explanation by the Communist Chinese Party. In fact a massive disinformation campaign has been launched in an attempt to shift the blame on US military personnel who participated in the World Military Competition during October 2019 in the city of Wuhan, China. When I wrote my blog “Assessing the Wuhan Virus” people became afraid and lashed out because I had written my critique. I stand by that assessment and today ask is it coincidence or consequence?

We now know that many infected Chinese personnel left Wuhan, China and went out into the world spreading this unknown virus where ever they went. Many travelled on direct flights to neighboring countries to an unsuspecting world. The World Health Organization (WHO) acted negligent and complacent to inform the world of this health hazard. That ultimately led to many more infections and deaths worldwide.

Rather than raise questions concerning the WHO handling of this pandemic, once President Trump announced suspending funding until an investigation is conducted, many American politicians have chosen sides with China and WHO.

Nobody has raised questions like why have 174 different nations all chosen to shut down, issue stay-at-home orders to their citizens, close arbitrary businesses that are the livelihood of many ordinary citizens while allowing those deemed essential to stay open? What exactly makes one essential? Is it booze, pot, abortions, convenience stores, fast food eateries, grocery stores and supermarkets? And Who made the determination for all 174 countries? Something smells like dirty rotten socks. It stinks like the approaching fog of the New World Order or a pre-One World Government.

In America there is a saying that diapers and politicians need to be changed and for the same reason as changing dirty socks. – I am the Real Truckmaster!

Trump Is Not That Good?

87197824_886385195151789_7441975385232769024_o

4-11-2020

Trump Is Not That Good?

I take a lot of flak for writing about President Trump, but I guess not as much as he takes on a daily basis. Here is what I hear (read) people are saying about him.

Trump golfs too much; he’s not even a good golfer; he cheats at golf; and taxpayers pay for it.

Well let me clue you in to a little secret – many people golf too much, but if Trump owns the golf course why not golf all he wants?

Trump’s not even a good golfer, neither am I but if golf is a way to relax he doesn’t even have to be good at it, just enjoying being on the course is a stress relief.

Trump cheats at golf, again if he owns the golf course – well he does own the golf course and can cheat all he wants. Is anybody going to kick him off?

Taxpayers pay for Trump’s golf trips – Yeah he’s President of the United States and much of what he does is paid by tax dollars, and in case you don’t know he hasn’t taken a presidential salary in over 3 years and has accomplished a lot more than any other politician in history. Don’t believe me, name one since George Washington?

Another comment is Trump is conceited and doesn’t feel bad about hurting other people’s feelings.

I hate to burst that bubble but there is a difference between confident and conceit. Trump knows what he is allowed to do as President according to the Constitution. He also has advisors to insure what he wants to do doesn’t violate his authority. Knowing his authority and when to use it means he must spend a lot of time mapping out his plan for the day, week or even longer. Then evaluate how his political opponents will react and readies his response accordingly. One of Trump’s little known secrets has always been to know your enemy (opponent). Trump is a high stakes risk taker who doesn’t do something just to see if he can do it but will look at the options to determine if it’s even worth doing. Someone once said that while others are playing checkers, Trump is playing Chess and at least 7 moves ahead.

“Remember this, nothing worth doing ever, ever, ever came easy. Following your convictions means you must be willing to face criticism from those who lack the same courage to do what is right. And they know what is right, but they don’t have the courage or the guts or the stamina to take it and to do it. It’s called the road less traveled.” – Donald J. Trump.

Years ago after renaming The Trump Organization he started by trademarking and branding various projects with the Trump name. It was a time in America when professional pride was seriously lacking. Workers had not invested themselves in their work and often did less than their best. Trump on the other hand did not simply want to put his name on anything less than the very best property or project he built. Trump took a risk and they thought he was vane. Trump solicited the very best and brightest project manager for each specific project and was one of the first to hire a woman as project manager when he began his signature project – Trump Tower.

Now Trump does hurt other people’s feelings with his direct from the heart dealings with those who are behaving badly or acting stupidly. Trump doesn’t sugar coat it either. His catch phrase “You’re Fired” have brought many to tears.

As President, Trump uses every tool in his personal toolbox. Twitter is one of his favorites because his words are free of censuring and go directly to the people. One person remarked that his wife said Twitter to Trump is like a laser pointer and a cat. The media is the cat and goes off instantaneously without checking the source or verifying what was actually tweeted.

From the very beginning of Trump’s campaign for the presidency he focused on one specific theme – Making America Great Again and using a red baseball cap as the team color. There are some on the left that see a red cap and instant hatred ensues. They blame Trump for causing hatred and division when it is their own narrowly focused perspective that doesn’t allow rational thought. If you look back over the past 4 years there have been hate crimes committed left and right by those who can’t stand it that Trump supporters are so adamant and faithful to him and his administration. I have yet to hear of or read about a Trump supporter going off on someone on an innocent bystander yet virtually all of the domestic terrorism committed in the USA comes from the liberal left.

I’ve been saying for a very long time all that is going on is not about Trump. It’s more about you and me. It’s about how we react to events around us. Do we put our trust in President Donald Trump? I for one do. I trust that President Trump is being led by the Holy Spirit of Almighty God to do what amounts to an impossible task. Destroy political correctness in America and stop evil from engulfing our very lives. Ultimately I place myself, my family and my country into the hands of God because I know that God is in control.

To you who say Trump is not that good – you are absolutely right! President Trump is beyond good. As Tony the Tiger would say, “HE’S GREAT”! – I’m the Real Truckmaster!

Trump Myth or Legend

Trump Myth or Legend

Let me be clear I do not know or have ever met the man so many liberals love to hate, the 45th President of the United States Donald John Trump who was born June 14, 1946 in Queens, New York City, New York. That being said what I know is from books I have chosen to read, news feeds and Twitter and personal observation over the past 4+ years.

I am a home-grown blogger having written a number of blog posts in defense of this man many refuse to call “My President”. I can honestly say that if you are an American citizen living in the US or abroad Donald Trump is your President. If that doesn’t sit well with you then you have the option to exercise your right to move and renounce your citizenship or exercise your Maranda right to remain silent.

I have heard from my Democratic, Independent and Republican friends all the banter and hype about Trump. He’s a racist; womanizer; divorcee X 2; failure; only interested in money; crude; braggart;  foul mouth; draft dodger and golfs too much, all those and more. Of those who spout all those allegations I have never heard one of them say they know it firsthand but have been conditioned by what the media puts out and what Trump affectionately “Fake News”. I’m not saying that those are all true or all false. What I am saying is without digging deeper it’s easy to take those at face value.

I have heard rumors, backed up by actual news stories where many years ago Trump actually stopped his limo to stop a mugging in downtown New York City and held the mugger until police arrived. There is the story of hundreds of active duty soldiers stranded without a means of getting home for an upcoming holiday and Trump sent his aircraft (making several trips) to get those soldiers home for the holiday. There was the time when a celebrity suffered a terrible tragedy and Trump put her up in Trump Tower for free as she dealt with the murder of her family members. Or the time Trump paid for the wedding of a staffer who later slandered him for a not too distant book deal. These are verifiable accounts that anyone can Google or research with just a little bit of effort. Unless you have personal firsthand knowledge or are a Trump insider it is critical that you look at the whole “package” that is Donald John Trump before you simply cast your judgement.

From what I have read and have seen President Trump is street smart growing up a few years ahead of me, but in the streets of New York City. As a kid I’m sure he was a handful as his dad Fred Trump decided to enroll him in 1959 at the New York Military Academy (age 13) to straighten him out. In Fred’s book there were two kinds of people, killers (winners) and losers. There was no middle ground. At the NYMA Trump’s chief instructor was a WWII combat veteran who taught it wasn’t just about winning, winning was the only thing! So growing up in the 1960’s streets of New York City the die had already been cast for Donald Trump, he would either sink or swim. He adapted at the boarding school and ended up doing exceptionally rising to become the cadet leader however his sights were set even higher. Trump went first to Fordham University at age 18, then transferring to Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania while working in the family business.

For those who harp on misinformation that Trump was a draft dodger let me clarify some things. While going to college Trump obtained four student deferments. In 1966 his medical examination deemed him fit for military service. Trump earned his bachelor’s degree at Wharton in economics in 1968 and a local draft board classified him as eligible to serve. In October 1968 Trump became medically deferred and classified as 1-Y (unqualified for duty except in case of national emergency). In 1972 Trump was reclassified 4-F due to bone spurs (permanent disqualification).

Let me interject something here. I am just 3 years younger and began my military service in 1967 during the Vietnam War. I have classmates who dropped out of high school and joined the army national guard in order to not end up in Vietnam, while others joined an active military branch to go to Vietnam. Many of them did go to Vietnam.

Student deferments do not make you a draft dodger neither does medical disqualification for military service. Many young men wanting to serve were turned down during the physical examination and classified as 4-F (unfit for military service) and that does not make them draft dodgers.

What does make you a draft dodger is misusing student deferments or enrolling in the Reserve Officer Training Course in college and not completing the program, getting ordered to active duty and leaving the country in order to avoid serving (Ask former President Bill Clinton how that works).

Fred Trump was a real taskmaster and a no nonsense businessman who demanded the best from Fred Jr. who he expected to take over the family business E. Trump and Son. Donald was not expected to take over yet circumstances intervened and it was Donald who at age 25 was named president in 1971 of the company he renamed The Trump Organization.

Trump was a brash young entrepreneur with the lifestyle of a player in New York. He took many chances in business that had a mixture of failure and successes. This was echoed in his personal life as well as he married and divorced the loves of his life. What I find interesting was the way he taught his children the family business, from the ground up and it was not his style to do it otherwise.

What many people don’t know is that Trump was a Democrat until 1987. He contributed generously to the political campaigns of prominent Democrats, some of whom are still in office today. In 1987 – 1999 Trump switched parties to the Reform Party 1999 – 2001, and became an Independent 2011 – 2012 before switching to the Republican Party 2012 – Present. Donald Trump can be seen with various members of the rich and famous, including politicians whose pockets he lined with campaign donations. They all wanted to be seen with their “sugar daddy”.

So what changed? I think the meeting of President Reagan brought Trump around to the Republican Party. He could see the effect Reagan had on the people and his policies had across the global economy. I believe it was around 1986 during a Barbara Walters television interview she asked if he would ever consider running for President. Trump said only if the country needed him.

Trump’s business dealings were filled with controversy involving lawsuits and compromises. Not being from the east coast I never heard about or cared what was happening in New York City or with Donald Trump. I did not know that in 1988 Trump purchased Eastern Air Lines, rebranded it Trump Shuttle failed to earn a profit operating until 1992 before selling it to USAir. Nor did I know that from 1996 – 2015 Trump owned part or all of the Miss Universe pageants, including Miss USA and Miss Teen USA.  In 2002 Trump moved both pageants from CBS to NBC until 2015. Trump then sold the Miss Universe Organization to the William Morris talent agency. In 2003 Trump co-produced and hosted The Apprentice and later co-hosted The Celebrity Apprentice.

What really brought Donald J. Trump on the national scene was as a virtual unknown, non-political outsider when he ran and won the 2016 election as the 45th President of the United States against political favorite former FLOTUS, Senator and Secretary Hillary Clinton? This has been a sore spot for Democrats and liberals causing a virtual meltdown often called Trump Derangement Syndrome.

Over the past 3+ years the Trump Administration has seen a virtual assault on the presidency by liberal leftists and Democratic politicians and Main Stream Media outlets attempting to discredit and bring down President Trump from allegations of misconduct, alleged foreign collusion and trumped up charges leading to Trump being only the third president to be impeached amounting to an attempted and yet unsuccessful coup de taut. As we approach the November 2020 elections it is clear that none of the democratic challengers have anything substantial to bring to American voters except higher taxes, taking away guns and other rights guaranteed in the Constitution.

The best economy in US history with hundreds of thousands of American’s working than ever before and many voters are seriously questioning Democratic Party goals and purpose. It is my humble opinion the current COVIN-19 outbreak was aimed at bringing down the booming US economy, effecting the upcoming elections and virtually affecting world economies across the globe. I’ll leave you with food for thought and suggest that rather than relying on the hyperventilating of the main stream media or online bloggers (like me) do your own investigating. Exercise that gray matter between your ears. – I am the Real Truckmaster!

What Have You Got to Prove?

92236349_243467456702556_320416092268789760_n

What have you got to prove?

I’m reminded of old man Walton who started his grocery store and worked to make it the best. He most likely didn’t tell anyone he was a grocer. Probably didn’t make a habit of pointing out where he lived, what car he drove or where he bought his clothes. How many of us can make those claims?

Years passed by and old man Walton capitalized on his success by selling franchises of his grocery model. I don’t think anyone was busting down his door to get in on the ground floor either. I haven’t read the history of his success, but I read somewhere that he lived in the same house, drove the same car and wore the same style of clothing up until his death, and probably never telling anyone his little grocery store became the very successful Wal-Mart grocery chain. He knew who he was and that was enough. He lived and died a humble man with nothing to prove.

Don’t you just hate it when you meet someone and they have to tell you how successful and rich they are? They live in the upscale part of town. Drive expensive cars and have a collection of toys that others only dream of. They’ve hunted big game in Alaska and Africa; Climbed to the peak of the Himalayas; Fished the mighty lakes and rivers in the Rocky Mountains; Rode their mountain bike thousands of miles in their quest to fill that bucket list, yet they are still here bragging on their successes in life.

Their professional life is the talk of the town as they hob-knob with societal royalty, the doctors and lawyers and the really well to do. Oh and not to forget they are as religious as the church building they frequent on occasion. Compared to them my life is a wreck.

I have a home (house to live in and a car to drive) a family (my children are all grown) and live nearby with children and grandchildren of their own. I have friends and still keep in touch. There are family and friends in different states and countries and we connect online much more than over the phone or vacation visits. I have what I need to survive comfortably for a while.

More importantly I have a loving God who supplies my every need and is waiting for me to join him one day.

Joshua 24:15 – But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.”

I am content and have nothing left to prove. – I am the Real Truckmaster!

The Schumer – Trump Letter Exchange

4-3-2020

The Schumer – Trump Letter Exchange

Here is my take on yesterday’s heated letter exchange between Senator Chuck Schumer who sent President Trump a letter accusing the President and his administration of mishandling the response to the Coronavirus. That was a letter that should never have been sent.

The wording of the letter was deliberately demeaning by addressing the letter to The Honorable Donald J. Trump, instead of President Donald J. Trump. Several false allegations were made throughout blaming the unpreparedness of the Trump administration in dealing with the Personal Protection Equipment supply shortage issues at city and state level in New York and other states. In short the federal response was said to be greatly lacking and the lack of leadership by President Trump was to blame.

What was meant as a stinging indictment literally backfired as President Trump responded with what his administration has been doing while battling Congress over the impeachment hoax? President Trump corrected the misstatements made by Senator Schumer and made it clear that failures at the New York state level were done over a number of years and under Senator Schumer’s watch. Had Senator Schumer actually worked for the citizens of New York he should have seen to it they were better prepared. President Trump told him what he already should have known that the federal government is the backup to state government, not the other way around.

Since this happened just yesterday I’m wondering who leaked the letters to the media purely for political purposes? Within hours of the letter exchange members of Congress and the media have taken this story and ran with it in favor of Senator Schumer.

I hate to say this but Senator Schumer seriously misjudged President Trump’s ability as a counterpuncher to effectively respond. What will happen is Senator Schumer’s tenure in office and the fact that he is coming up for reelection in November 2020 might loosen his grip with the people of New York who have blindly voted for him all these years.

What I gather from this exchange is that it is a smoke screen to hide the incompetence of certain members of Congress who continue to put politics over lives. Their continued attempts to bankrupt the nation while lining their own pockets and during a crisis is mindboggling since these members of Congress would rather work against President Trump and his administration. – I am the Real Truckmaster!

God Has Our Backs and We Got This

3-31-2020

God Has Our Backs and We Got This

What we know is the SARS-CoV-2 was first detected in Wuhan, China in November 2019 and was almost immediately renamed COVID-19.  It is known by several other names: Coronavirus, Chinese Virus, Wuhan Virus, CCPvirus) and literally swept across the globe at breakneck speed driving people into full panic mode with a fear of the unknown. The US and other nations began restricting travel from affected areas and preparing measures to detect, delay and prevent the spread of this unknown pandemic.

As nations began mobilizing medical facilities and professionals it became woefully obvious how unprepared they were across the board as personal protection equipment (PPE) supplies became exhausted.

Nations began organizing health assessment and mobilization teams, medical teams and hospitals began preparing for the expected worst case scenarios. Drastic changes had to be made. While naysayers began proclaiming extraordinarily high exposure and death rates, states, cities and communities across the US began drastic measures – stay at home orders, social distancing, sanitation, hygiene and hand washing became critical to slow the spread.

Business as usual ended beginning in March 2020 as fast food and restaurants became delivery or pickup orders only. Panic buying of basic necessities caused even more panic as hoard buying seemed to become the new normal. Toiletry, paper and hand sanitizer supplies were exhausted even before they could be restocked.

Schools closed and implemented online learning curriculum for those now home bound. Non-essential businesses shuttered their doors. Employees no longer had jobs to go to and yet mortgages, bills and food and medicines still had to be purchased.

Churches and places of worship across America were closed to prevent the spread of COVID-19, but not shuttered as many adapted to online Live Broadcasts that can be seen by larger audiences around the world. Rather than being prevented from worship, Christians were simply deployed to spread the gospel and tell the Good News that Jesus Christ is Lord and that God Loves You and me even when we don’t deserve it.

In America many remember the shock, then the resolve of 9/11/2001 when life as we know it changed forever. Was it happening again? Was this a terrorist attack on a global scale? Entire economies were on the verge of collapsing. The stock markets were adversely affected and still we are facing an uncertain future. The enemy is silent yet deadly. What are we to do? Is this the end of the world?

Rather than sit around fretting about what might happen President Donald J. Trump has declared unashamedly “We will get through this. We will win!” As he set new guidelines and initiated bold steps there have been many who criticize and belittle the efforts of the Trump administration. Rather than getting on board and presenting a calm reassuring presence, members of the Congress of the United States have set themselves up against this President.

The President called for everyone to do their part and the titans of industry, large and small have answered the call. In the spirit of 1776, the Civil War, the Alamo, and two World Wars Americans have come together as one, not to depend upon government, but private citizens and American ingenuity to solve even the most complex problems associated with stopping the spread of COVID-19.

I saw this list being circulated on Facebook and found it needed some tweaking to more accurately reflect the scope of what is happening across the nation.

  • Carnival Cruise line told Trump, “We can match those big Navy hospital ships with some fully staffed cruise ships.”
  • GM & Ford said, “Hold our cars, watch this; we can make ventilators where we were making cars by next week.”
  • Construction companies said, “Here are some masks for the medical staff & doctors.”
  • Major businesses have retooled their factories to produce Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Restaurants & schools said, “We’ve got kitchens & staff; we can feed the kids.”
  • NHL & NBA players are writing checks to pay the arena staff during postponed seasons.
  • Churches are holding online services & taking care of their members & community.
  • Women & children are making homemade masks & handing out snacks to truckers.
  • Breweries are converted to making sanitizer for first responders.
  • We thought we couldn’t live without baseball, hockey, & NASCAR, or going to beaches, restaurants, or a bar… Instead, we’re ordering take-out to help keep businesses alive.

What they didn’t count on was America saying, “Hold my beer – watch this.”

I think a Japanese Admiral in the middle of the Pacific said it best in 1941: “I think we have awakened a sleeping giant.”

Give us a little more time & we will be doing much better! Stop listening to the hysterical media.

We are one nation, under God – Author unknown.

God’s got us, & #WeGotThis!

#UnitedWeStand #BeAnAmericanForAChange

The initial call by President Trump mobilizing former and retired medical professionals from the Inactive Ready Reserve and Retired Reserve was answered by more than 9,000 volunteers – in a heartbeat!

BAM!

We serve a living and a loving God who would that nobody perishes.

What is the Purpose of Journalism?

3-29-2020

What is the Purpose of Journalism?

I have been introspectively looking at the effect print media, bloggers, opinion editorialists, journalists and professional reporters have on forming and/or channeling public opinion. Just as print media has grown the audiences of traditional writers the internet has also broadened the range of its audience.

Just to be clear I’m not trained in journalism, but have a love of writing. Much of my work ends up in the trash bin of my home office or in the recycle bin of my computer. I began blogging over the past 4 years in an attempt to dispel the myths and disinformation I see daily being put out by some very big mainstream media outlets as they wage war on President Donald J. Trump.

At first I became somewhat confused, and then angry as I watched broadcasters, television anchors and reporters assault the President verbally and through the use of print media pushing outright lies and misinformation as their version of truth. I then got caught up in using the monikers and funny names or catch phrases used by the President to redirect this misspent energy on the part of the media.

During this recent period of self-isolation I have decided that reinforcing or in some cases reintroduction of basic journalist tenets would be a better way of dealing with the arrogance and nastiness coming out of the media.

Let me say that choosing journalism is a huge responsibility to the audience to report the news without bias or political slant and to the organization. Professional journalists must bring on their A game in a field crowded with attention getters and reporters of fake news. It should never be about just getting the story first, but about always getting the story right. A journalist who becomes the story has obviously failed.

Never in the series did Metropolis Reporters Louis Lane or Clark Kent draw attention to themselves. Well maybe Louis Lane did? But Clark always pulled back and let Superman swoop in to save the day. With the age of today’s cell phones and the dwindling number of phone booths it’s easy to see how much harder it is for Clark to find a suitable changing station.

In order for a journalist to produce great stories they have to be adaptive and creative, not with the articles they produce, but in ways to gather news worthy material, verify sources and present a fair and balanced report. Everyone knows there is always more than one side to a story so contacting sources is extremely important. Turnover in the mainstream media is evidence that everyone is expendable!

There are many levels of journalism, local, state, national and world events that often go misreported or in many cases unreported.

There are many kinds of journalists, Amateurs, Hobbyists, Bloggers and Professional. Writing a letter to the editor of a local newspaper has been a way for Amateurs to get articles published quickly. This can lead to becoming a Hobbyist, like writing articles and submitting photos as a bird watcher or nature lover. With the advent of the internet Blogging has opened up the world of self-publishing and social media enables the wide distribution of stories of interest and hopefully as you read this you can begin to understand.

Taking it to the Professional level usually comes after college or university level classes on effective writing and the application of the tenets of journalism. Successful journalists draw a following and often rise to the attention of a network executive or news outlet that always look out for outstanding writers and reporters.

Here are ways to rapidly kill your chances of becoming successful as a journalist: Deceptively altering quotes; Present info out of context; Fabricate material; Mislead; or Making false claims; Reckless disregard the truth; Publishing defamatory claims; Omitting important context; or Push false narratives.

Successful journalists always: Contact the subject of a story for comment and be fair by seeking both sides to a story and fact checking for accuracy.

I’m always surprised and disappointed by major news outlets who accept shoddy or sloppy material full of outright lies and misinformation or attempt to mislead the audience with a political bias. Equally disappointing are watching, listening or reading journalists who feel they are so self-important that the subject of their inquiry MUST submit to their line of questioning.

Take for instance the White House Press Corps. Their job is to cover the White House and the office of the President of the United States. There are those who are blatantly disrespectful of the President or his representative that in their questioning they bluster up like a huge puffer fish attempting to push their false narrative. Once they become disrespectful they have lost their advantage and in my opinion there is no longer room for them at the briefings.

The same holds true if a news reporter goes to the scene of a disaster and while a homeowner is surveying and assessing their loss they are asked “how it feels to lose everything”. I would venture to say that reporter would risk being knocked to the ground by someone who then asks “how does that feel”. The lack of common courtesy goes hand in hand with common sense and a great journalist must demonstrate both. The purpose of a journalist is to gather the facts and present the news in such a way that the audience gains insightful knowledge of what has transpired.

Don’t simply accept what is being reported as fact, be specific and ask for verifiable sources so you can make an educated and informed decision. – I am the Real Truckmaster!
